Wycombe v MK Dons

Wycombe finished the season with a very hot hand of home form, winning five of their last six at Adams Park.

The Chairboys closed out the season undefeated in twelve league fixtures.

So they hit red-hot form right at the perfect time.

The one area of concern about their chances is that Wycombe only produced a W1 D5 L4 record in their ten matches against the other top-six finishers this season.

That and they lost both regular-season matches against MK Dons 1-0.

League One Playoffs Fixtures & Dates

Semi Final Dates:

  • 5th May – Wycombe v MK Dons
  • 6th May – Sunderland v Sheffield Wednesday
  • 7th May – MK Dons v Wycombe
  • 8th May – Sheffield Wednesday v Sunderland

MK Dons won five of their final eight league fixtures of the season and hammered Plymouth 5-0 on the final day of the regular season.

Plymouth finished just outside of the play-off zone because of that, the result helping out Wycombe’s play-off bid.

MK Dons posted a W4 D1 away record this season against the top six finishers, but going only W1 D1 L3 at home.

So strangely their best chance may come on the road in the first leg.

But Wycombe are not a pushover at Adams Park,

The Chairboys are 6/4 to win the first leg at home and that could be the platform that gets them through the tie.

First Leg League One Playoff betting odds

Sunderland v Sheffield Wednesday

Sunderland’s promotion bid looked to be falling away as they had poor months in January and February.

But they managed to pull it back together to finish strongly, undefeated in their last thirteen matches.

Sunderland were undefeated in seven at the Stadium of Light to close the season, winning five of those.

The away form of the Black Cats may be where their challenge falls down, winning only three road games during the season against top-half finishers.

Sheffield Wednesday had such a terrific season on home turf during the League One campaign.

They posted a W16 D5 L2 record at Hillsborough.

The advantage of playing the second leg at home is with them and the Owls claimed a 3-0 home win over Sunderland earlier this season.

Home and away combined, Sheffield Wednesday won six of their final eight matches of the season (D1 L1).

With only one defeat in their final eleven matches for the season, the Owls could have the edge over the two legs, especially if they avoid defeat away from home in the first.

First Leg League One Playoff betting odds
