League One Tips – 23rd October, 2018

While the UEFA Champions League is going to be taking centre stage in midweek, there is plenty of action coming from League One. There is a packed fixture list on Tuesday in League One with all teams quickly returning to action after the weekend. Here are our top League One predictions and tips for 23rd October 2018.

Luton v Accrington

The Hatters once again have been a formidable force at home this season as they will defending an unbeaten record at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday. They are W5 D2 there for the season and they have averaged exactly two goals per home games. They have netted at least two goals in each of their last three home games (each of their last five home and away) and took down Walsall 2-0 there on the weekend. They have scored in each of their home fixtures this season. A tough game for Stanley then, but this is a side who know how to handle themselves. They are W5 L1 in their last six games and have a good W4 D2 L1 away record this season. They don’t have the scoring power that Luton have though but are defenisvely better. We can’t split them and the draw at 14/5 appeals* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 8:22 pm)

Portsmouth v Burton

Pompey are top of the pile and made it back to back league wins again with a success over Fleetwood on the weekend at home. That moved them to a W4 D2 L1 record at home this season in League One. Their defence looked strong and back to its best against on the weekend and three of their four home wins this season have been with a clean sheet. Burton are also on a two-match winning streak and god themselves a narrow away win at bottom side Plymouth on the weekend. We don’t see them coping as well at Portsmouth so we are looking at the home win to nil at 2/1 odds* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 8:22 pm)

Blackpool v Scunthorpe

Blackpool collected a home win over Wimbledon which was a surprise to well, not many people. That moved them on to a good W3 D3 L1 record at Bloomfield Road. The Seasiders are now undefeated in their last ten games and are unbeaten in six on home soil. So they are in good form and they have scored exactly two goals in each of their last three games. They have to be a bit of value to take down the Iron on Tuesday night. Scunthorpe lost 3-2 out at Wycombe on the weekend making it a three-game losing streak for them. They have conceded eleven goals in their last three games. We are all over the Blackpool win but not confident enough to back it to nil. Blackpool are 5/6 odds for the three points* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 8:22 pm).

Bradford v Coventry

Is there any glimmer of hope coming for the Bantams? It wouldn’t appear to be that way as they are on a three-match losing streak and have now lost eight of their last ten (W1 D1). It doesn’t matter if they are scoring, their defence isn’t standing up to the tests which are in front of them. They have conceded at least two goals in each of their last three games and the out-of-sorts Rochdale beat them at home on the weekend. We are expecting the Sky Blues who are on a three-match winning streak to go and collect three points. Coventry at 6/4 odds against, all things considered, looks good and could be the bet of the night* (betting odds taken on October 21st, 2018 at 8:22 pm).
