Things certainly have a different complexion for the 2021/22 campaign.

There’s no Sergio Aguero for starters and who knows where Harry Kane is going to be playing? Now the presence of Lukaku shakes things up.

Will Lukaku earn the Golden Boot?

Chelsea have made a club-record signing, grabbing striker Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan to bolster their ranks.

The Blues were already being sized up as potential Premier League title contenders this season. The arrival of Lukaku is only going to strengthen that.

Chelsea are a current quote of 5/1 in Premier League betting to win outright* (odds recorded at 19:25 GMT on August 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

Lukaku has Premier League experience of course having played for Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United in the top flight.

Last season in Serie A, Lukaku netted 24 goals to help the San Siro club get their hands on the title. Will the 28-year-old fire Chelsea to the Premier League title?

Lukaku is a current quote of 4/1 in Premier League Top Goalscorer football odds* (odds recorded at 19:25 GMT on August 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

The last time that a Chelsea player won the golden boot was in the 2009/10 season when Didier Drogba netted a total of 29.

Lukaku to help or hinder Werner at Stamford Bridge?

The arrival of Lukaku at Stamford Bridge will naturally raise some questions about Timo Werner.

He was signed in the summer of 2020 and struggled to make a big impact. Werner has scored six goals in 35 Premier League appearances so far.

What will Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel do with Werner? Will the German be sold? Will the pressure be off him in a support role?

There is also the option of playing the both of them together in a double-pronged attack?

Werner is at a quote of 20/1 in the Premier League Top Goalscorer betting* (odds recorded at 19:25 GMT on August 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

There may not be immediate pressure to sell Werner, with Tammy Abraham being linked with Roma and Michy Batshuayi looking to move from the club as well.

Can Harry Kane be Premier League Top Goalscorer again?

Kane has won the Golden Boot three times before and topped the scoring charts with 23 goals last season.

The England captain is still the favourite to get it this season.

Kane is a current quote of 7/2 in Premier League Top Goalscorer betting odds* (odds recorded at 19:25 GMT on August 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

For now, Kane is still at Tottenham.

But there are big transfer rumours that Manchester City, who look to require a striker, are going to make a move for him.

It’s reasonable to assume that if he goes to Man City then his chances of winning the Golden Boot are probably going to grow a lot bigger.

Will the Liverpool duo flush in front of goal?

Despite their Premier League title defence last season turning sour last season, Liverpool are blessed with both Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

The duo finished joint-top scorers (along with Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang) in the 2018/19 season.

Salah netted 32 times in the 2017/18 season to win the Golden Boot prize and he is a quote of 9/2 in this season’s Premier League Top Goalscorer odds* (odds recorded at 19:25 GMT on August 12th, 2021 at 888Sport)..

The Reds will be looking for both of them to spark again, to launch a title bid.

Mane is a longer quote of 25/1 to top the scoring charts* (odds recorded at 19:25 GMT on August 12th, 2021 at 888Sport)..

Can Vardy get amongst it?

The only other player besides Kane, Salah and Serio Aguero to not jointly finish the season as a top goalscorer for a campaign since the 2014/15 season is Jamie Vardy.

The Leicester forward will lead the line again for the Foxes as they look to get in the race for a Top 4 finish.

They have just missed out on that target in the last two campaigns. Vardy won the Golden Boot in the 2019/20 season.

The Leicester forward is a quote of 20/1 to repeat that feat* (odds recorded at 19:25 GMT on August 12th, 2021 at 888Sport).

The stronger that Vardy goes in front of goal once again, the bigger the chances that Leicester will have in competition for a Champions League place.
