MK Dons News and Form – Can the Dons get back to winning ways?

Paul Tisdale’s MK Dons have made an indifferent start to their League One season, winning two and drawing three of their opening five fixtures. Milton Keynes started their league campaign with a 1-0 home win over Shrewsbury, but Tisdale’s troops have gone on to lose three of their following four.

After beating last season’s EFL League Two champions Lincoln City at Stadium MK on matchday three, the Dons have lost back-to-back matches in the league. They were humbled by Peterborough United at home, losing 4-0, before falling to a 2-1 defeat at Accrington Stanley in their last league outing.

However, MK Dons are through to the third round of the EFL Cup, where they will play Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in late September. In the first round, the Dons beat Wimbledon on penalties. They then thumped Southend United 4-1 at Roots Hall in round two.

Having lost their last two League One fixtures, MK Dons could really do with all three points from Saturday’s derby clash. Can Tisdale’s men return to winning ways on home soil?

Wimbledon News and Form – Can the Wombles get their first win?

Wally Downes’ Wimbledon have made a poor start to their season. The Wombles are without a win in eight league and cup games so far. Having survived relegation by a whisker last term, Wimbledon could be involved in another relegation scrap this time around. At the time of writing, Downes’ team sit 21st in the table with just two points to their name.

After kicking off with back-to-back losses to Rotherham United and Fleetwood Town (both 2-1), Wimbledon picked up their first point of the season, drawing 1-1 with Accrington at Kingsmeadow. However, defeats to Ipswich Town and Sunderland followed. Last weekend, the Wombles drew 0-0 at home with Wycombe Wanderers.

It’s been a miserable start for the club, who occupy a place in the relegation zone at present. The Wombles are one of only three League One teams yet to win a game this term. Meanwhile, they were also knocked out of the League Cup by rivals MK Dons a few weeks back.

Wimbledon have struggled for wins of late, picking up just one victory in 14 league and cup matches. They have some tough League One fixtures on the horizon, but can Downes’ men pick up a shock win at the home of their rivals at the weekend?

MK Dons v Wimbledon Predictions

MK Dons win: Neither side have made a good start to their season. However, the MK Dons have picked up six points from five games, while Wimbledon have lost four and drawn two of their opening six in the league. With this one taking place at Stadium MK, though, the home side will fancy their chances of picking up all three points. The Dons victory is available at the decent odds of 10/11.

When these two met in the first round of the League Cup back in August, the pair drew 2-2 in normal time. Despite taking the lead, Luke O’Neill’s last-gasp strike for Wimbledon took the tie to penalties. Unfortunately for Downes’ men, MK Dons went on to win 4-2 on penalties at Kingsmeadow. This one has the potential to be another goal fest between the two rivals, so have a punt on over 3.5 goals at 2/1.
