It has been back to back defeats for Namibia then in the group stage. Their first was a calamitous finish against Morocco, with Namibia scoring an own goal in the final minute. Their second loss was by the same scoreline against South Africa. Three points would give them a third-place finish in the table. The Ivory Coast got through to the finals after finishing in second place in their qualification group to Guinea. The Elephants took a W3 D2 L1 record from that qualification campaign. They were though one of the higher-scoring teams in that qualification process. But they have managed just one goal at the actual tournament so far. That was in a 1-0 win over South Africa in their opener, before going out and losing 1-0 to Morocco in their second fixture. So it’s all been tight.
