Neil Lennon firm favourite for vacant Leicester job

Lennon linked heavily with Foxes move

Football News

Neil Lennon has raced to the head of the next Leicester manager betting market, despite the man reporting that he hasn’t even been contacted by the club yet. Varying reports are stating that he wants the job and that Leicester are looking at bringing him in to replace Nigel Pearson.

Lennon is an 11/10 shot at online bookmaker Sky Bet to get the job with the Foxes, leaving the early market leader Sam Allardyce trailing in his wake bank now at a price of 6/1. Lennon has links of course to Leicester, spending four years as a player with them and the former Celtic boss has yet to test himself in a managerial capacity in the English Premier League.

Leicester head to pre-season training on Wednesday, so the club is going to have to move fast, temporarily putting assistants Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh at the helm. One other name which has been touted around a fair bit is Steve Cotterill. The Bristol City boss has managed in the Midlands three times in his career (Stoke, Notts County and Nottingham Forest) and he led the Robins to an impressive League One Championship and Johnstone’ Paint Trophy double last season.

Cotterill was originally a 33/1 shot but as the early market attracted a flurry of bets, he was in as short as 2/1 with some bookmakers, but now with the Lennon connections with Leicester, Cotterill is back as third favourite at a quote of 10/1 with online bookmaker Sky Bet. Sean Dyche is at a 14/1 quote, a couple of marks longer than Roberto Di Matteo and Esteban Cambiasso at 12/1. Guus Hiddink, who just quit the Netherlands job is a 20/1 quote.
