Nottingham Forest v Derby County Betting Tips – EFL Cup, 27th August 19.45pm

Rivals Nottingham Forest and Derby County meet in the second round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night. With this one taking place at the City Ground, Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds are the slight favourites with the bookies, but Phillip Cocu’s Rams will be looking for a result in Nottingham. These two rivals have played out several ding-dong battles over the years, and this promises to be another tasty A52 derby in midweek. Will Forest make home advantage count, or can Derby pick up a win at the City Ground?

Nottingham Forest News and Form – Can the Reds build on last weekend’s superb result?

Nottingham Forest have made a decent start to their EFL Championship campaign under new boss Sabri Lamouchi. The Reds have won two, drawn two and lost one of their opening five to sit ninth in the table on eight points.

After drawing 1-1 with Charlton Athletic last Wednesday, Nottingham Forest picked up an excellent win at Fulham last weekend. An early Lewis Grabban goal got them up and running, with Grabban scoring his second to make it 2-0 on the hour mark. Aleksandar Mitrovic pulled one back, but Forest held on for an outstanding 2-1 win at Craven Cottage.

Nottingham Forest have not lost in any competition since an opening weekend Championship defeat at home to West Bromwich Albion. Since then, the club have won three and drawn two of their last five. In the first round of the EFL Cup, a Tiago Silva goal gave them a 1-0 win over EFL League One side Fleetwood Town at the City Ground.

Derby County News and Form – Will the Rams claim a first win in four?

Derby County have not won in the league since beating Huddersfield Town 2-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium in their season opener. Since then, the Rams have picked up just three points from a possible 12.

County have been hard to beat under Phillip Cocu, though, with Bristol City being the only team to have beaten them so far. After losing 2-1 to Lee Johnson’s Robins last Tuesday, the Rams responded with a 1-1 draw with West Brom at Pride Park on Saturday, with Martyn Waghorn getting the goal. Waghorn has been in good form so far, scoring three league goals already.

In the previous round of the EFL Cup, Derby were made to work hard for their win at Scunthorpe United. It was a close game at Glanford Park, but young Lee Buchanan was the hero for the Rams, scoring in the 78th minute to give County a 1-0 win.

Matches against enemies Nottingham Forest at the City Ground are always tough teats for Derby. In fact, they have failed to win any of their last six visits to the home of their rivals. Can Cocu’s side book their place in the third round of the EFL Cup with a rare victory at the City Ground on Tuesday?

Nottingham Forest v Derby County Predictions

Nottingham Forest win: This intriguing cup tie between rivals Forest and Derby could go either way on Tuesday. Both sides will be desperate for the bragging rights, so we could be set for a tight game at the City Ground. The Reds have won their last two at home after losing to West Brom earlier in the month, and the hosts could just edge this one on their own patch. Have a punt on Forest to win in 90 minutes at 7/5.

Lewis Grabban has started the new season in fine fettle, scoring four times in five Championship matches. The striker, who netted twice at Craven Cottage, will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet in this one. Grabban to score in a Forest win is nicely priced at 13/5.
