Paraguay News and Form
There has been little or next to nothing really in terms of form from Paraguay recently. So they will be feeling some of the pressure in this opening game of their Copa America campaign. The last time that Paraguay won a game was back in 2017. They just won their final warm-up match ahead of the tournament, taking a 2-0 win over minnows Guatemala. Paraguay had been on a seven-match winless streak before that.
The win over Guatemala was their only clean sheet in their last ten games played. Back during the 2018 World Cup qualification campaign, Paraguay took just a W7 D3 L8 record from their fixtures. At the last Copa America, they had a pretty rough time of things as well as they finished bottom of their group with just one point from their three games. They scored just one goal in that tournament.

Qatar’s inclusion in this Copa America tournament is going to be interesting. They come into as the AFC Asian Cup Champions after beating Japan 3-1 in the final. That goal against Japan is the only goal that they conceded from their seven games at the tournament. Granted they are going to be facing much tougher opposition in the Copa America than they did at the Asian Cup. But you can look back ever further at their good form.
In their last sixteen games, Qatar are W12 D1 L3. They did get some notable results in that run of games as well, including wins over Ecuador and Switzerland plus a good draw against Iceland. So Qatar are underdogs for the game, but they look as if they could have enough about them to throw down some kind of challenge in the fixture. They may well give Paraguay a run for their money. The key in this could be in their defence which may be able to keep their opponents at bay

Qatar to win: There does appear to be a whiff of an upset in this one. Qatar certainly looks to be the more capable and confident of the two at the moment. They can avoid defeat at the very least against a Paraguay side who are out of form.
