Spain v Nigeria Betting Preview
The Spaniards just need a point to confirm their place as Group B winners, but mathematically, even if they lose they’ll likely still finish top because of their goal difference. The stakes are a lot higher for Nigeria who start in second place for Sunday’s game. Their destiny is not in their own hands (unless they beat the World Champions). They are level on points with Uruguay who have the easy task of facing Tahiti in their final match. So the African representatives really have to push for an upset here.

Spain v Nigeria Recommended Bet:
A second string Spanish side thumped Tahiti 10-0 in their second group match, following up a comfortable opening win over Uruguay. It means that Spain have a massive goal difference over Nigeria going into this, and should be at the top of the pile when the group is finally settled. Technically all four sides could still make it through to the semi finals, coming down to goal difference at the end of the day. However, for Spain not to make it through, they would have to lose by four goals or more. That is just not going to happen. Spain haven’t really missed a heartbeat and were in superb control in what could have been a tough opener against South American side Uruguay. They can just slip into their fluent top gear with ease and their tournament winning experience should get them past Nigeria. Spain will call back the services of some of their main players for this one too after giving the likes of Iniesta and Xavi a rest.

Vicente Del Bosque’s men are going to be tough to keep off the scoresheet. Despite David Villa and Fernando Torres scoring seven goals between them against Tahiti, they’ll probably both be missing from the starting line up in favour of Roberto Soldado. The Spaniards are now on a 27 match unbeaten streak. Impressive. As for Nigeria, the Super Eagles really need to beat the World Champions to have a realistic chance of getting through. Uruguay will probably hammer Tahiti, so that will mean the Africa Cup Of Nations winners will have to do something most sides in the world will struggle to do, beat Spain. The Super Eagles had an 18 match unbeaten streak snapped when they lost to Uruguay in their second match. They had been unbeaten for over a year and it was also their first loss in Confederations Cup history, exiting the 2005 edition unbeaten, losing in penalty shoot out to Mexico in the third place play off.

After beating Tahiti 6-1 in their opener, Nigeria really needed to get a victory against the South Americans. But in a scrappy game, they couldn’t find the goals. Nigeria, who didn’t send a full squad to the competition, played some spirited stuff against Uruguay, stroking the ball around nicely and looking comfortable. There was a lack of bite in the final third though and they will be further hampered with forward Nnamdi Odaumadi possibly out with injury. It doesn’t really look all that promising for Stephen Keshi’s men and they haven’t beaten an European side since 2009 when they edged past France in a friendly.

Everything will be pointing to a Spain win and hard to look past that. Spain are just on a different level at the moment and it could be worth looking at a Spain/Spain Half Time/Full Time bet for an extra bit of value at a price of 3/4 with online bookmaker Bet Victor.

In the Spain v Nigeria head to head, there has only been one previous meeting. That actually went in favour of the African side, and was a costly defeat for Spain as it helped to get them knocked them out of the 1998 World Cup group stage.
