Robins to take the points in the Potteries

Stoke City v Bristol City Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 14th September 15.00pm

Bottom club Stoke City welcome in-form Bristol City to the bet365 Stadium for an EFL Championship fixture this Saturday. With the pressure starting to mount, Nathan Jones could really do with a win at the weekend. However, that will not be easy, as Stoke are coming up against a Robins side who are starting to find their rhythm. Can the home team pick up their first league win of the season, or will the visitors pile more misery on Jones and his team?

Stoke City News and Form – Can the Potters pick up their first league win?

Stoke City have had a miserable start to their Championship season. The Potters are rock bottom of the table, failing to win any of their opening six league fixtures. So far, Stoke have drawn one and lost five, scoring six and shipping a staggering 15.

Before the international break, Jones’ boys let a lead slip to lose 2-1 at Birmingham City. Stoke thought they were on their way to a rare away league victory when Liam Lindsay’s 58th-minute goal gave them the lead at St Andrew’s, but late goals from Lukas Jutkiewicz and Jude Bellingham turned the game on its head in Birmingham’s favour.

Stoke have really struggled at the bet365 Stadium so far, claiming just one point from three home league matches. City have lost to Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United and have drawn with Derby.

The Potters have lost all three of their away league affairs, but they secured two away victories in the Carabao Cup. In the first round, Stoke beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 at the DW Stadium, which they followed up with a win on penalties at Elland Road. Next up in the cup is a trip to Crawley Town.

Bristol City News and Form – Will the Robins heap more pressure on Stoke?

Bristol City have responded expertly well after a slow start. Since taking just one point from their opening two Championship matches of the season, losing at home to Leeds and drawing at Birmingham, Lee Johnson’s side have won three and drawn one of their following four.

Bristol City secured three impressive wins on the spin, seeing off QPR, Derby County and Hull City, scoring seven times along the way. However, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Jonathan Woodgate’s Middlesbrough at Ashton Gate last time out. Tommy Rowe equalised with nine minutes to go to rescue a point for the Robins.

After losing on penalties at QPR in a thrilling EFL Cup matchup at Loftus Road, Bristol City have won their last two on the road. The Robins beat Derby 2-1 at Pride Park before winning 3-1 against Hull at the KCOM Stadium in their previous away fixture.

Even though Bristol City have picked up ten more points and are 19 places above Stoke in the table, the Robins are second favourites in this one. Can Johnson’s troops battle to a third consecutive away win?

Stoke City v Bristol City Predictions

Bristol City win: Stoke have been woeful so far. Since dropping out of the Premier League, the Potters fans have not had much to shout about, as their club finished in a lowly 16th place last term. Despite being one of the pre-season promotion favourites, Stoke could be in a relegation battle this year.

Bristol City have hit back after a slow start, and they are now one of the in-form sides in the Championship. The Robins are certainly good enough to leave the Potteries with all three points on Saturday, so have a punt on the away win at 12/5.

With Benik Afobe, who is on loan at Bristol City from Stoke, ineligible to play against his parent club, the Robins will be looking elsewhere for goals. Andreas Weimann has scored twice in the league already, and the Austrian is available at 9/2 to net in a Bristol City win on Saturday.
