Tim Sherwood heads next QPR manager betting market

Sherwood lined up for Loftus Road role?

Football News

Tim Sherwood looks to be in the driving seat to become the next QPR manager. With the London outfit parting company with Harry Redknapp this week, chairman Tony Fernandes is on the hunt for a new man to take charge of the hot seat at Loftus Road.  Former Tottenham boss Sherwood is 1/4 favourite at Paddy Power to take over at the club, after apparently having been approached by them.

Redknapp resigned from his role this week following a 3-1 loss against Stoke on the weekend, but the official reason for his departure was of him needing a knee operation. He left the club second from bottom in the Barclays Premier League. Rumours of him either leaving or being pushed out of the club have been around since early January.

So where now will QPR turn to? Fernandes is reportedly looking for a young, forward-thinking manager who has long term goals. The club have said that they will do three interviews, and Tim Sherwood has been one of those called up to take the job. The other two who are most likely to be in the frame are Real Madrid assistant coach Paul Clement and current Derby boss Steve McLaren.

McLaren, who is on a promotion charge with the Rams in the Championship, has worked under Fernandes before, so there is a connection there. However, he has been left out at a long 25/1 price to be the next QPR manager, probably unlikely to swap his positive role for a scrap in that the foot of the Premier League table.

Clement though has been drawn into a 9/1 shot, and only Kevin Bond (8/1) and Sherwood are shorter markets in the Next QPR manager market at online betting site Paddy Powe There is a 20% acca win bonus available at Paddy Power for any winning 4folds+ accas on the Win-Draw-Win and Both Teams To Score market.
