Well, this is just wide open and a case can be made for most of the runners in this field.

SHELIR was close over course and distance a couple of weeks ago and is up just 1lb from that.

MARIE’S DIAMOND looks on a very threatening mark at the moment, as he looks to snap a long winless streak of form.

VINTAGE comes up 4lb and he should be very competitive after winning at Windsor three weeks ago.

But our slight preference is for TINKER TOY who struggled up at Group 3 at Newmarket on his latest run.

The 11/4 current favourite POET’S MAGIC gets the nod from us in this contest as a horse racing tip* (betting odds recorded 18:44 GMT on July 18th 2021 at William Hill).

He did pick up a victory at this venue earlier this season and that was from a mark of 5lb lower. That was of course and distance.

Poet’s Magic therefore should show well again and continued in good form with a second-place finish at Haydock a couple of weeks ago.

TOUESSROK has been asking questions in the last two runs. It’s been back-to-back runner-up finishes from him. He hasn’t won in his last 13 attempts but is likely to be in the shakeup.

The other that we would chance is LA RAV who did find some winning form last autumn, getting a couple of scores at Newcastle.

He looked like he needed his reappearance 10 days ago and there could be more to come.

It is just a small field here and we don’t see PRESENTANDCOUNTING getting knocked over in the contest.

His stable is in form and he has been right on his game individually as well. It has been two wins in three from him since a move to chasing.

The jumping form of Presentandcounting looks to be getting better and better and he won by 20 lengths at Perth 18 days ago.

Naturally, the handicapper has been after him, handing Presentandcounting a 10lb rise. That may not stop him.

The main threat to the favourite is NO COMMENT who just had a notable return to form. He was at course and distance on his latest run over the hurdles.

No Comment was runner up in that one and he could thrive in a smaller field.

There is plenty of interest in TONTO’S SPIRIT for this contest. He has delivered four course and distance wins before.

So naturally, he rates a massive danger in this one. The veteran does come down in trip for this one after finding 2m 5f at the top of his range last time out.

He should be firmly in the mix. But LERMOOS LEGEND looks very interesting as a horse racing tip at 11/4* (betting odds recorded 18:44 GMT on July 18th 2021 at William Hill).

He secured a hat trick last time out and while this is a stiffer contest, he has to be firmly on the radar.

The handicapper has given him an extra 9lb to work with, but there should be still further progress to come from him.

Another that warrants a look for the shortlist is BALLYVIC BORU. He lost his rider last time out, but that followed up a good second-place finish at Uttoxeter in June. He’s on a decent enough mark to launch a challenge from.

DRESSEDFORSUCCESS is likely to launch a strong challenge in this one. He’s taken to handicapping very well.

Three weeks ago he delivered a comfortable victory over course and distance. Dresssedforsuccess takes a jump up in class and has an extra 10lb to deal with as well. But he did have plenty in hand in winning last time out.

EMPIRE DE MAULDE rates similarly. He is up 8lb after a highly impressive victory at Aintree last time out.

That’s two very good runs from him this season.

She has delivered some nice form in this campaign and there was plenty to like about her juvenile season as well.

Operatic has taken to handicapping well. Her race at Newmarket on her latest 10 days ago came totally unravelled at the start and so that can be excused. There is likely to be a lot more to come from her.

LIHOU rates as one that should get in the frame. He was third of 10 at Sandown on his latest after launching his bid a little too early.

The other selection is going to be GLAMOROUS ANNA who won this last year. That was from a mark of 3lb lower.

She has been facing much tougher assignments than this for the season so, in calmer waters, Glamorous Anna could rediscover a bit of form.
