Race Favourite

The current race favourite for the opening race in this preview is ANTONY at 11/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

He will have the benefit of having had a reappearance run this season.

He collected a runner up spot at Chepstow last month. That was a run that he really needed as well because he started to struggle last season.

Antony only takes on a 1lb extra in the rating for this one. If there’s something more to build on from that Chepstow run, place claims are there.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

FOLLOW THE SWALLOW though brings proven form to the table in this one. He was last seen at Wincanton three weeks ago.

It was a score that he picked up there, completing a double after a success at Uttoxeter.

He looks to be in great heart and well on the up at the moment.

Follow The Swallow makes it as our pick at 13/2* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020)

THOMAS SHELBY warrants some respect for the contest as well. He managed to get his first score under Rules with a win at Huntington in December.

On his third run of this new season he has delivered some solid form.

That culminated with a win at Bangor just over a month ago. That was on a 3 mile trip and he looked very good.

Race Favourite

The favourite for this small field is KNIGHT DESTROYER at 7/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

This is his reappearance run for the season and he looks to push on from flat and hurdles wins.

The last trip that Knight Destroyer had was in January when he scored at top form at Taunton.

So that makes him an interesting contender here for his first go at the big stuff. With the switch comes a 5lb higher rating. He should be a player.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

SAO looks like a good player for this field as well. On his penultimate start he was here at Hexham. That was at course and distance when he took a fourth place finish.

Sao was really taking the race on from the front before taking a tumble.

It was a strong showing from him up until the fall. He stays at the same mark and appeals from 4/1* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

Bringing some experience to the table is SLANELOUGH, who is a dual hurdle winner. He has just to get a win on the board over the fences however.

But he’s well versed in these kinds of tests. It hasn’t been bad efforts from him so far this season. It was a fourth place finish in chasing action at Carlisle (2m) in October.

14:35 Fontwell Handicap Chase UK Racing Odds & Tips

Bad Boy Du Pouldu 7/4
Go Steady 5/2
Go Long 4/1
Finnegan’s Garden 11/2
Haldon Hill 12/1
Shintori 12/1
Churchtown Glen 40/1

Race Favourite

BEST BOY DU POULDU is the current 7/4 favourite for this handicap chase at Fontwell on Friday* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

It’s been rapid progress from him this season, stark contrast to what he delivered at the end of last season.

Best Boy Du Pouldu opened this season’s account with a second place effort here at Fontwell.

But then he found that extra to score at course and distance just a couple of weeks ago on his following run. There’s strong claims for him on the back of that, despite a 7lb rise.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

GO STEADY showed some great form back in Spring as he completed a double at Warwick and Hereford.

This will be his first effort of this season and he is up 6lb from where he left off.

It will be interesting to see him refreshed on his first run since March. There were enough signs there to expect more to come from the low mileage 8 year old.

GO LONG also looks to be a strong nomination for this contest as well. He was last seen in March when he was in action at Catterick.

It was a second place finish that he took in that contest there, at a mark of 2lb lower than where he is now.

That runner up spot for Go Long was a big return to form after a mediocre stretch of form.

Race Favourite

EBONY GALE is the current 11/4 favourite for this contest* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

A reappearance run under his belt may appease backers of Ebony Gale in this chase.

He scored a good runners up spot in a handicap chase at Huntingdon just over three weeks ago.

The form in that one has been franked since then, so there is a decent chance that a bold run will come from him here.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

JARLATH has some course and distance history behind him. He has been over C&D twice this season as well, putting in solid runs on both occasions that he did.

There was also a good show from him on his last run, a Fontwell chase. That was at a 2m 6f distance in October.

He was nowhere near the win, but place claims are certainly there as Jarlath comes back to a familiar setting.

He has to easily be worth a look at 10/3* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

MAGIC RIVER will have to be the other name to throw down on the shorts for this action.

The 9 year old recently returned from a 15-month break when he showed up at Plumpton 18 days ago.

Magic River will stay at the same mark as well, following up a runner spot in that last effort. There is a reasonable chance that he is going to be in the mix based on that.

Race Favourite

At the head of the market for this hurdle action we have GUSTAVIAN at 11/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

This will be his reappearance run for the season and he carries with him plenty of promise as well.

In his penultimate race of last season, Gustavian got a score carrying a penalty at Uttoxeter. The follow up race really didn’t suit him, but he took second place.

He has been in the frame in his last four and looks as if he is going to be a big player under handicapping.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

COLLEGE OAK is another in this field which looks as if it retains a lot of potential. He was involved in a similar fixture at Ascot last time out.

That was last Saturday so this is a quick turnaround. But College Oak stays at the same mark.

It has been two wins in three runs from him this season, so he should be a player if he handles the quick return.

The other big interesting player in this field is QULOOB. There was a recent win for him, happening on his repparance.

That was just his third time over the hurdles as well. Following that win over the jumps, things fell a little flat for him.

Quloob was in the middle of an 8-runner contest over the hurdles here at Fontwell in September.

Race Favourite

TATHMEEN is the current 3/1 favourite for this contest* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

He rattled the crossbar on his last effort, when he was on the all-weather at Wolverhampton. That was only 4 days ago.

Tathmeen likes a run at Newcastle, having won here five times before.

Even though this is a quick turnaround for him, he is expected to be well in the mix. This does, however, look to be a wide open contest.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

FANTASY KEEPER is another that is worth a look in this contest. He was second on his last trip, which was at Redcar.

That was a good effort there with a bold run, and dropping down the weights and coming down in trip, he does offer some horse racing betting appeal.

This will be his first trip on the Tapeta. But there’s a nice 10/1 e/w option there* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

The other that we would have to consider is TRIGGERED. He belatedly found a bit of form last time out. That was on a 6f trip at Kempton just over a couple of weeks ago.

He got away slowly in that one, but overall the second place finish signalled that he is back on his game as he lokos to end a winless streak of 14.

Race Favourite

Looking to secure a double is HUNTERS STEP who is the 3/1 FAV in horse racing betting here* (betting odds taken from Betway at 21:36 GMT on Thursday, 5th November 2020).

He takes on a 4lb rise in the ratings in this one. That is following a course and distance success here just three weeks ago.

Given the way that he was powering to the finish in that recent score, then he has to be expected to be right around there again. He looks to be the one to beat.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

In the frame as well should be BROCTUNE RED who is a wonderfully consistent runner. So we would expect him to be in the hunt here.

On his last effort he went about as well as expected to take a fourth place finish here at Newcastle. That was about a month and a half ago.

Place claims are easily there. It’s been a while since he’s won but is likely to get close.

FASHION FREE is worth a look in this one. Michael Appleby’s filly scored here at Newcastle in her penultimate race in October.

That’s a course and distance win under her belt so the claims are there. She carries a 6lb penalty for that win.

The last run that Fashion Free had was at Wolverhampton earlier this month where he battled to fourth.
