When and where is the St Jude Invitational?

This tournament is held in Memphis, Tennessee in the USA. The action for 2021 starts on August 5th and draws to a conclusion on the 8th.

This will be the final WGC tournament of 2021 and the event is hosted on the famous TPC Southwind. It is a par 70 course.

All but two of the current top fifty players in the world are headed to Memphis and as it’s a WGC event, there is no cut at the end of round two.

St Jude Invitational golf history

This event has gone by a few different names throughout its history. The inaugural edition was in 1958 as the Memphis Open.

In 2006 it merged into the Bridgestone International to become one of the big four World Golf Championships events that are hosted in the year.

The tournament was held at Firestone in Ohio before getting the switch to Southwind, Tennessee in 2019.

The piece of silverware that is handed over to the winner is The Gary Player Cup and Tiger Woods boasts the most ever successes at the event with an 8th title coming in 2013.

Koepka is the favourite in WGC St Jude Invitational Golf Betting odds

American’s Brooks Koepka is the current 12/1 outright favourite for golf betting this week* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).

Koepka has a decent track record here at TPC Southwind and that puts him in with a big chance this week.

He won the St Jude Invitational here in 2019 and then went so close in a title defence the following year, taking second.

That’s four top-three finishes that Koepka has recorded at this tournament in the last six editions.

With some stellar form since mid-May, taking four top-six finishes in five events, it’s expected that Koepka is going to be in the thick of things.

Our betting prediction:
Louis Oosthuizen
22/1

Can Morikawa add to his Open title?

This year’s Open winner Collin Morikawa made his debut at this event last year and had a good weekend under his belt.

So with that little bit of course knowledge, he may well be able to play his way into contention. The current form is also there to support Morikawa.

He has landed in the top four in all but one of his last five tournaments and returns to action after being in contention for a bronze medal in the Olympics playoffs.

Morikawa is a quote of 14/1 in golf betting this week* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).

Can new Olympic champion Schauffele do the business?

There will be a renewed air of confidence about Xander Schauffele after his brilliant gold medal in Japan at the Olympics.

That was his first success in 30 months anywhere ever. He is one of 18 players who are in this field who competed at the Olympics.

That’s a big time difference that those players have to deal with.

While Schauffele’s results on the PGA haven’t really been there over the last couple of years, he has improved on each of his performances at TPC Southwind.

Schauffele was sixth on his latest effort at the venue and is a 14/1 quote to go all the way this time* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).

Course expert Berger to have a say?

If there is one man in this St Jude’s field besides Brooks Koepka who has big form at TPC Southwind, then it is Daniel Berger.

Berger has one missed cut, two wins and one second place from his four previous visits to Memphis for this tournament.

That easily brings him into contention as a 22/1 quote for PGA Golf odds* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).

Bet at Bet365

Berger brings some nice form in big events as well, having carded a top ten finish at both the US Open and the Open in two of his last three events.

Scottie Scheffler to shine in WGC event once again?

Recent history at TPC Southwind has suggested that players don’t really need a lot of course history to get themselves into the frame.

Scottie Scheffler is a quote of 22/1 in the St Jude Invitational golf betting market this week* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).

He’s been all the rage in his second year on the Tour and he has put together a strong campaign.

Scheffler has posted top-five finishes in a couple of WGC events before and his form in the majors is also highly impressive, having reached the top ten in two of his last three.

Others to note

Matt Fitzpatrick has good course form with a top-six finish recorded on each of his two previous visits to TPC Southwind. He comes in fresher than most, not having played since the Open.

Two time TPC Southwind winner Dustin Johnson may come into consideration here. He’s been under par on each of his last 13 rounds played at the venue.

Billy Horschel could play his way into contention after taking a run of four straight top-ten finishes at TPC Southwind.

Following a T6 on his last visit to Memphis, Louis Oosthuizen is another that warrants respect in golf betting.

Oosthuizen has big current form as well, taking a runner up spot in four of his last events across the world.

St Jude’s Invitational Golf Betting Odds Predictions

The first pick as a golf betting tip is Louis Oosthuizen. He’s on top of his game at the moment and could get in this.

The South African is a very handy 22/1 option for this contest and he brings cracking form to the table* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).

Daniel Berger has form at TPC Southwind, winning a couple of times there.

With improving form in majors adding to his claims, Berger is another of the good 22/1 picks* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).

Right from the top of the golf betting market has to be 2019 champion Brooks Koepka. This is the tournament outside of the majors at which he thrives.

Koepka is a 12/1 golf betting pick* (odds recorded at 21:14 GMT on August 4th, 2021 at Bet365).
