Wolves v Liverpool Preview

Wolves have enjoyed a good season and they deserve a lot of credit for handling themselves so well up in the top flight. They did suffer a loss last time out as they went down 2-0 at home against Crystal Palace in the league. It leaves them with just the one win in their last four games home and away. They have lost back to back games against Molineux now and the first of those was a 2-0 league defeat against Liverpool just before Christmas.

Four of their five home defeats this season have actually been by a 2-0 scoreline, so that’s a trend. Wolves have only managed to score in two for their last five at home. But now and again they have come up with stunning performances. Like their league home win over Chelsea and their come-from-behind recent victory out at Spurs. They are underdogs on home soil for this FA Cup clash. But with Liverpool not likely being at full strength, can Wolves take their chance?

Liverpool suffered the first loss of their league season on Thursday night as they were beaten 2-1 at the Etihad by Manchester City. They stay out on the road now and Jurgen Klopp is likely to give some of his starters a bit of a break. Winning the league is obviously going to be a higher priority for them. On their travels, this season in all competitions Liverpool are W8 D2 L4 for the term. Three of their four defeats were in the Champions League group stage.

They were on a three-match winning streak on their travels through before they visited Man City in midweek. They have scored in each of their last six games away from Anfield and have netted at least two in three of their last four. Liverpool are on a three-match winning streak at Molineux though and are winless in four there. They haven’t conceded in any of their last four trips to Wolves. Wolves though actually lead the FA Cup head to against Liverpool 4-2 and that includes their victory at Anfield back in January 2017, their most recent cup clash.

Wolves v Liverpool Predictions

Liverpool to win: You would still have to side with Liverpool to win even if they aren’t likely to be at full strength. The stand out option here is a Liverpool to win to nil option at 21/10 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on January 4th, 2019 at 7:46 p.m.).
