ASTON VILLA v BURTON ALBION

Monday 26th December 2016 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Football – England – Championship Betting Picks

Aston Villa have returned some mixed results recently in the Championship but they did manage to steal all three points in a 1-0 win away at QPR at Loftus Road last time out, and Steve Bruce’s side will be looking to record back-to-back wins on Boxing Day against struggling Burton Albion.

Villa still remain unbeaten at their Villa Park ground as they possess a solid record that stands at  5-5-0  16/8 but perhaps one too many draws have held them back so far from making an impact upon the top half of the division.

Having said that, The Villans have registered four straight wins on home turf recently with wins gained over Fulham, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic, and their record at home against bottom half opposition reads a healthy  5-2-0  13/5 in these situations.

Visitors Burton Albion have slipped down the Championship in slow and steady fashion in recent weeks and now occupy fourth from bottom position and just two points above the relegation zone as they make their way to England’s second city.

Three defeats on the trot to Brentford, Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United respectively now has Brewers manager Nigel Clough on notice and despite beating a poor Rotherham United outfit at their Pirelli Stadium recently, their away form will be under heavy scrutiny here today.

Burton are still yet to record an away win in the Championship as their away record stands at a disappointing  0-5-6  10/21 in addition to having lost four of their last five away matches with defeats suffered at Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Reading and Brentford.
