This weekend has seen the start of the new Italian top flight season and Monday night brings us another opening day fixture with Atlanta taking on Frosinone as further betting tips are available for Serie A.
Even though this is the start of the domestic season, Atalanta have been in action the past few weeks in the early qualifying rounds of the Europa League and they’ve reached the play-offs stage of the competition following some impressive performances.
Wins over Sarajevo 10-2 on aggregate and a 6-1 aggregate win over Hapoel Haifa means they face Danish club, Copenhagen for the right to progress to the group stages, but first they will look to open their account in Serie A tonight. Forwards, Barrow and Zapata have hit early goalscoring form.
Frosinone gained promotion from Serie B at the end of last season following the play-offs route with a semi-final win over Cittadella, and then a 3-2 final win over Palermo as the visitors return to the top flight after just one season in the second tier.
They face a difficult trip in their opening game of the new campaign as they make their way to Atlanta’s Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia to face Atalanta who finished in 7th place at the end of last season.
The visitors will be keen to make a better fist of things this time around in Serie A following relegation a couple of seasons ago which included losing four of their last five matches to end their disappointing campaign.
In addition, Frosinone lost in their last encounter away at Atalanta 2-0 and my betting tips suggest we could well see another similar scoreline here this evening.
