Blackpool and Millwall go head-to-head at Bloomfield Road in the EFL Championship this Saturday. The Seasiders picked up a much-needed 1-0 home victory over Hull City in their last league match on New Year’s Day, while the Lions head to Lancashire having lost three league and cup fixtures in a row. The bookies are having a tough time splitting these two, though the Tangerines are the slight favourites. Check out the latest odds and top tips for this Championship clash.

Blackpool Preview – Will the Tangerines build on Hull win?

Blackpool have had a topsy-turvy first season back in the Championship after winning the 2020-21 EFL League One play-offs. From the middle of September to late October, Pool won six of eight, but just two wins have followed since.

Since a trio of victories at the end of October, Blackpool have won two, drawn three and lost six of their following 11 league matches. After a run of five losses from six, the Seasiders did manage to start 2022 with a much-needed 1-0 home success over Hull on New Year’s Day.

Blackpool have kept themselves away from the bottom three this season, and they are in the top half of the table at the halfway stage. Can they stay there for the remainder of the campaign?

Millwall Preview – Can the Lions bounce back with a much-needed victory?

Like Blackpool, Millwall have also had a mixed bag of results this season. They were tough to beat in the early months, but the London side head to Lancashire having lost five of their last seven in all competitions.

In 2022, the Lions have suffered successive defeats to Bristol City, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. They have also struggled away from The Den over the past few months, winning only one of their last six away league matches.

Millwall are one of the more unpredictable teams in the Championship. The Londoners can beat anyone on their day, but their slip in form will be a concern for Gary Rowett. Can Millwall pick up a positive result by the sea on Saturday?

Blackpool vs Millwall Betting Advice

Millwall edged the reverse fixture at The Den back in August. Shayne Lavery opened the scoring for Blackpool in the 56th minute despite having Callum Connolly sent off early on. Goals from Jed Wallace and Jake Cooper turned the game on its head. That was the first meeting since they locked horns in the 2015-16 League One season.

Key Facts – Blackpool vs Millwall Betting Tip

  • Blackpool have won two of their last three home league games
  • Millwall have picked up just one win from their previous six Championship away matches
  • The Lions beat the Tangerines 2-1 at The Den back in August

Both teams will be looking for maximum points from this one, which should make for a fascinating game at Bloomfield Road. The pair have picked up 33 points each so far, and there is not a lot to split them on paper. With that in mind, our money is going on the draw at 23/10.

Shayne Lavery, who has scored nine league and cup goals for Blackpool this term, opened the scoring when the teams clashed at The Den earlier in the campaign. The Northern Ireland international is available at 6/1 to score first in this one.
