Bristol City Preview – Will the Robins finally win at home?
Bristol City have kicked off their season with two wins, two defeats and a draw. The Robins have won two of their last three in the Championship, picking up victories at Reading and Cardiff.
Their home form since the turn of the year has been nothing short of atrocious. Bristol City have not won at Ashton Gate since a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield Town way back in January, which was a fourth straight league and cup home win at the time. The Robins will be desperate to win in front of their home supporters on Saturday.
After the excellent performance at the Cardiff City Stadium before the international break, can Bristol City make it nine points from a possible 12 with a victory at the weekend? The hosts are priced at 13/10 to get the points.
Preston North End Preview – Can the Lilywhites make it four wins in a row?
Frankie McAvoy’s Preston North End made the worst possible start to their season when they were beaten 4-1 at home by Championship new boys Hull City. They then lost to Reading and Huddersfield.
However, the Lilywhites have really got their act together since, winning three in a row in all competitions. Either side of a 4-2 victory at Morecambe in the EFL Cup were league wins over Peterborough United and Swansea City.

Bristol City vs Preston North End Betting Advice
Last season, both teams won the home fixture. Preston picked up a 1-0 victory at Deepdale in mid-December, with Daniel Johnson’s penalty doing the business. Bristol City got revenge at Ashton Gate the next month, as goals from Famara Diedhiou and Zak Vyner gave the Robins a 2-0 home victory. Before last term, the previous three meetings ended level.
Key Facts – Bristol City vs Preston North End Betting Tip
- Bristol City have not won at home since January
- Preston have lost both away league matches this term
- Three of the past five meetings have ended all square
Bristol City will be desperate to end this poor home record. Since that win over Huddersfield back in January, the Robins have lost ten and drawn two of their following 12 Championship encounters at Ashton Gate.
Preston have lost two on the spin on the road, but they did end last season with two away wins and have won at Mansfield Town and Morecambe in the cup this term.
This really could go either way in Bristol, so our money is going on the draw at 11/5. Preston have only failed to score in one away game this season, so back the draw and both teams to score at 7/2.
