After getting off to a winning start in his opening match, new Burnley boss Vincent Kompany will be looking for another three points when the Clarets entertain Nathan Jones’ Luton Town at Turf Moor in EFL Championship action on Saturday. The Hatters finished in the play-offs last term and will be no pushovers, but Burnley should make it two wins from two. Check out our betting preview for the best odds and tips.

Burnley Preview – Will the Clarets make it six points from two games?

After suffering a gut-wrenching relegation from the Premier League after a six-year stay, Burnley will be eyeing up an instant return to the top flight. They got off to the best possible start under new manager Vincent Kompany last week, winning 1-0 at Huddersfield Town.

Despite losing popular head coach Carlos Corberan, Huddersfield still look a capable outfit these days. However, Burnley deserved their opening weekend win at the John Smith’s Stadium, with Ian Maatsen netting the only goal of the game in West Yorkshire. Bigger tests lie ahead for Kompany, and there are no easy games in the Championship, but those three points were just what the doctor ordered.

Burnley will now be looking for another win to move on to six points from a possible six. As you would expect, the Lancashire club are the favourites, with the bookies pricing the home success at 3/4.

Luton Town Preview – Can the Hatters upset the Clarets?

Luton were the surprise package in the Championship last year, reaching the play-offs against all odds. They were beaten in the semi-finals by Huddersfield, but it was a huge step forward for the Bedfordshire club. Town won 21, drew 12 and lost 13 to finish in sixth.

Luton started this campaign with a draw with Birmingham. Neither side did enough to win it, and the game finished goalless at Kenilworth Road.

This will be a tough test for Luton, but they will relish the opportunity against one of the Championship’s big hitters. The bookies are offering the decent price of 18/5 for an away win.

Burnley vs Luton Town Betting Advice

This will be the first meeting between the pair since they locked horns in the 2006-07 Championship campaign. The Clarets picked up a 2-0 victory at Kenilworth Road, and the teams drew 0-0 at Turf Moor six months later.

Burnley are unbeaten in their last four against the Hatters, winning two and drawing two. Town’s last success in this fixture came way back in March 2000.

Key Facts – Burnley vs Luton Town Betting Tip

  • Burnley started life back in the Championship with three points
  • Luton finished in the play-offs last term
  • The Hatters last beat the Clarets over 22 years ago

Burnley got off to a flying start last weekend, and Kompany’s boys should have enough to see off Luton this Saturday. The Lancashire club kept a clean sheet in game one, and you can get 7/4 for Burnley to win to nil again.

Over the years, Ashley Barnes scored several important goals in the Premier League for the Clarets. Barnes is capable of scoring a hatful at this level, and we fancy the 32-year-old to get on the scoresheet on Saturday. Back Barnes to score anytime at 6/4.
