Cardiff City will go in search of a fourth consecutive win in the Championship when they play host to Norwich City at the Cardiff City Stadium as Friday night football returns to the English second tier.
Recent wins over Brentford, Barnsley and Nottingham Forest have maintained Cardiff’s bid for automatic promotion from the Championship, but they’ll be keen to gain another win on Friday night in order to keep the pressure upon league leaders, Wolves, who hold a four point cushion over the second placed Bluebirds.
A win on Friday would extend their lead ahead of third placed Sheffield United to six points, and with the hosts still unbeaten so far this season on home turf with a solid record of 6-3-0 16/4 under their belts, they look in good shape to continue here.
It’s been a frustrating campaign for Norwich City in the Championship so far as The Canaries now sit in a disappointing 15th place following an encouraging start to the new term, as they’d lost just three of their first 13 matches overall.
September and October brought wins over Birmingham City, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Reading and east anglian rivals, Ipswich Town, but they’ve since slumped to four defeats from their subsequent six matches overall.
Norwich’s form away from home has been inconsistent too, as their record of 4-1-4 9/13 underlines, and they come into this clash following back-to-back defeats on the road at Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest respectively.
Cardiff are on a high at the moment, but I advise proceeding with caution as it’s Friday night football after all.
