Cardiff City Preview – Can McCarthy win first home game?

After four straight wins from late November to early December, Cardiff City were gearing up for another play-off push. However, things have gone downhill rapidly since, with the Bluebirds going on to lose six of their following eight. On Wednesday, Mick McCarthy started life at Cardiff with a 2-2 draw at Barnsley.

The Welsh side are usually formidable at home, but they have certainly missed their supporters this season. Cardiff have picked up just four home league wins this term, suffering seven losses along the way. Since a 3-2 win over Birmingham City, the Bluebirds have lost successive home matches to Brentford, Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
4/5

Having slipped well away from the top six, Cardiff will be desperate to put a run together under new boss McCarthy. Can City pick up maximum points at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday?

Millwall Preview – Will Rowett’s Lions leave Wales with a good result?

Millwall have taken four points from their last two Championship fixtures. After a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium, the Lions held high-flying Watford to a 0-0 draw at The Den in midweek.

However, despite taking four points from a possible six, Millwall are in pretty retched form. Gary Rowett’s side have picked up just two league wins since October. On a more positive note, ahead of this clash in Wales, the Lions’ last four league and cup wins have all come away from home.

Millwall’s win at Huddersfield on January 20th was their first league success for over a month and only their second league victory since October. Can they follow that up with a win in the Welsh capital at the weekend?

Cardiff City vs Millwall Betting Advice

Former Millwall legend Neil Harris was in the Cardiff dugout when these two teams met at The Den back in November. The game finished in a 1-1 draw, with Kieffer Moore’s late goal cancelling out Matt Smith’s first-half header. Incredibly, each of the last six Cardiff vs Millwall meeting have ended all square.

Key Facts – Cardiff City vs Millwall Betting Tip

  • Nine of the previous 12 meetings have ended in draws
  • Cardiff have lost four of their last five Championship games at the Cardiff City Stadium
  • Millwall have picked up just two league wins since October

Both sides are in poor form, but we fancy McCarthy to get off to winning start on home soil. These two teams have played out a number of close encounters throughout the years, and this one could be similar. Therefore, take a punt on Cardiff to win by one goal at 11/4.

Kieffer Moore is enjoying a fine first season at the Cardiff City Stadium, netting nine Championship goals so far, including one at The Den a few months back. Put some money on Moore to score anytime at 7/4.
