Chievo Prediction

Chievo sit rock bottom of the Italian top flight with just 9 points to their name so far in what has been a wretched campaign for the hosts as they head into this difficult Friday night clash with Roma having registered just one win throughout this season to date.

That rare success came in the shape of a 1-0 home win over fellow strugglers and second from bottom club Frosinone, but otherwise it’s been an extremely disappointing season for Chievo who now look almost certain for relegation down to Serie B.

A home record of 1-4-6 11/21 doesn’t offer much solace either despite just one defeat from their last five on home turf, but just two clean sheets so far this term has done the damage. The hosts have also failed to score in 4 of their 11 home matches to date.

Key-Facts – Chievo v Roma

  • Chievo have won just once this season in Serie A
  • Roma are unbeaten in their last 5 matches in Serie A
  • Roma have suffered just 2 defeats away from home in their last 8 matches

Roma Prediction

Roma steadied the ship last time out in Serie A when they gained a point in a 1-1 draw with AC Milan following their 7-1 mauling at the hands of Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, but the visitors may not care too much about that cup embarrassment if they secure a top four finish at the end of this season which promises Champions League football.

Roma already occupy the Europa League qualifying spot but the visitors will have set their sights on the higher prize, and indeed, three points in this clash would lift them up into 4th place at the expense of AC Milan.

The visitors have also put together a solid five match unbeaten sequence which includes wins over Sassuolo, Parma and Torino as well as draws at Atalanta and at home with AC Milan.

An away record of 3-4-4 13/13 still requires further attention, but they’ve lost just twice in their last eight matches on their travels.

Forwards El Shaarawy (7 goals) and Dzeko (4 goals) look to be Roma’s biggest threats going forward.

Betting Tips Verdict

Chievo are staring relegation in the face while Roma will be spurred on by the potential of Champions League football next season.
