Juventus Preview – Fortress Turin Won’t Be Conquered?
The Old Lady are still on for a treble in 2019/20. Conversely, they could end the season empty handed, with success in each competition finely balanced. Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in the first-leg, restoring parity in second half stoppage-time to salvage a 1-1 draw that their performance barely deserved, does however mean Juventus are in a stronger position to progress out of the two sides with that vital away goal.

AC Milan Preview – Uphill Task Without Zlatan?
Should AC Milan fail to reach their first Coppa Italia final since 2018, last lifting the trophy way back in 2003, then an inability to convert a solid performance at the San Siro into a first-leg lead may well haunt them. Ante Rebic would, however, convert one of numerous chances his teammates created on the night, but conceding a late equaliser means the onus to chase a goal in Turin rests with them.
If various media reports are to be believed, Stefano Pioli will have spent much of the preparation period plotting Juventus’ downfall without the services of injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede is capable of having a big impact in big games, and will be a huge loss for a side who were floundering in attack prior to the 38-year-old joining during the winter window after a typically eventual stint in America.
The good thing about the recent break, though, is it enabled this team – which wasn’t enjoying the best of times until then, with one win across its last seven competitive games (W1 D4 L2) – to regroup and start again. It has also provided them with an abundance of time to plan ahead for this specific match. And after eleven straight losses away to Juventus (in either Serie A or Coppa Italia), let’s hope it was time well spent.
