Although Leeds United suffered a 3-2 defeat away at Barnsley last weekend, they’ll still remain in confident mood ahead of their Wednesday night clash against Nottingham Forest at Elland Road as the hosts possess a pretty solid record on home turf.
Garry Monk’s Leeds side have been in impressive form in recent weeks as they’ve chalked up five wins from their last six in the Championship which has seen them lift themselves up into play-off contention, sitting in fourth place in the league table.
Leeds’ home record stands at 9-2-3 19/9 and Monk’s influence has seen an improvement in their defensive qualities as they’ve kept seven clean sheets to date, including five on the trot in recent times, with recent wins over Aston Villa, Reading, Brentford, Rotherham United and Derby County all being to nil.
Visitors Nottingham Forest changed managers recently with former boss Philip Montagnier being shown the door after some dreadful results, and Gary Brazil has now taken over at the helm at the City Ground.
As is usually the case, this has seen an instant turnaround in form with Forest taking a point at Birmingham City in a 0-0 draw and then securing a vital three points last weekend with a 1-0 home win over strugglers Bristol City.
But it remains to be sen if they can continue this improvement in results and a tough trip to Leeds United should give us a better idea of where they’re at; Nottingham Forest are without an away win for four matches on their travels as they’ve suffered defeats at Derby County, Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United before the point at Birmingham.
