Middlesbrough remain in the play-off pack despite a 1-0 Boxing Day loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday as they sit in 5th place but find themselves a massive nine points adrift of the two leading clubs.
The hosts have experienced something of a downturn in recent times as Boro have managed just one league win from their last six matches overall which was a 1-0 win away at beleaguered Reading, but defeats to Aston Villa, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday have seen Tony Pulis’s side lose ground on Leeds United and Norwich City.
However, Middlesbrough return to the Riverside Stadium this Saturday where they’ll be looking to improve upon a fairly reasonable record of 5-4-3 11/8 which includes three matches without a win in recent times, but also seven clean sheets to date.

League wins have also been scarce for Ipswich Town not only in recent weeks but this season overall though as the Tractor Boys sit bottom of the Championship and seven points adrift of safety as they prepare for this difficult trip to Middlesbrough.
Ipswich have registered just one league wi from their last 12 matches which was a narrow 1-0 home win over Wigan Athletic, but the visitors have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 matches and possess a dismal away record of 1-2-9 8/25.
