However, they were a completely different team in the second half, with strikes from Kai Naismith, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Elijah Adebayo turning the game on its head to give the Hatters a 3-2 triumph.
After two defeats and a draw from their previous three, those three points over Wednesday were just what the doctor ordered for Luton. Town are not out of the woods just yet, but they have opened up a 12-point gap on the bottom three.
