Nottingham Forest and Preston North End lock horns at the City Ground in EFL Championship action on Saturday. Both teams would have been hoping to reach the play-offs before a ball was kicked this term, but Forest go into the final weekend in 16th, while North End are six points above in 13th. This could go either way, but will we see a winner in the East Midlands? Take a look at the latest odds and predictions in our betting preview.

Nottingham Forest Preview – Reds to finish with a home win?

Nottingham Forest missed out on the play-offs in dramatic fashion on the final day of last term and the Reds made a woeful start to this season under Sabri Lamouchi.

Bringing in the experience Chris Hughton to steady the ship was the club’s best bit of business this year. Hughton swiftly moved Nottingham Forest away from the bottom three, with the Reds securing Championship survival with several matches to spare. They will be hoping to pip Blackburn Rovers to 15th spot on the final day.

Our betting prediction:

Forest have drawn their last three but have lost just one of their previous eight. Can they end their season with three points on home soil this Saturday?

Preston North End Preview – Lilywhites to secure a fourth straight victory?

Preston North End have also had a patchy year in the Championship. The Lancashire club are still looking for a permanent manager after Alex Neil was dismissed in March. Frankie McAvoy has done a decent job as interim boss in the meantime.

Preston have ended a poor season well, winning each of their last three since a 0-0 draw at Stoke City. In recent weeks, the Lilywhites have beaten Derby County, Coventry City and Barnsley, scoring six and conceding none.

Back in January, Forest edged a tight affair at Deepdale, with a Lewis Grabban penalty proving to be the difference. That was the Reds’ first win in this fixture since March 2016.
