Novak Djokovic Preview – Can Djokovic progress?

There has been little to trouble Novak Djokovic at the French Open 2022. Is that about to change?

Djokovic has not dropped a set on his path to the quarter finals.

While 2022 has not been as prominent of a year for the Serbian, he appears to have run into form at the right time.

After losing in the Madrid Masters to young Carlos Alcaraz in early May, Djokovic has won nine straight match on clay.

That included collecting the Rome Masters title.

During this nine-match winning sequence, Djokovic has not dropped a set.

In the match outright for tennis betting, the win for Novak Djokovic is at 4/11* (odds recorded 019:06 GMT May 30th, 2022 at Betfair)

Get through this match and he will further strengthen his title favouritism.

Djokovic is the reigning French Open champion, winning it for the second time in his career twelve months ago.

That was with a victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the showcase match.

The last time that Djokovic met Nadal was during last year’s title run at Roland Garros.

The Serbian claimed a 3-1 semi-final win over his old rival, snapping a five-match losing streak that he had been on against the Spaniard on clay.

Djokovic is up and running and produced his best level yet in sweeping past Diego Schwartzman in the last round.

Rafael Nadal Preview – Nadal to pass the biggest test of all?

Rafael Nadal is back in the French Open quarter-finals, but there was a struggle to get there.

In the fourth round, the thirteen-time champion met young Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and was pushed all the way.

After dropping the first set, Nadal fought back to take the lead, but his opponent then levelled up to take the match to a deciding set.

Nadal held his nerve and outlasted his opponent 6-3 in that decider.

But that was a lot of extra time on the court that he would not have wanted ahead of meeting Djokovic.

In the match outright, Rafael Nadal is the 7/4 underdog* (odds recorded 019:06 GMT May 30th, 2022 at Betfair).

It’s not often that you’re going to see him sitting in that position in the market.

But that appears to be a fair reflection of the respective levels of the two greats at the moment.

Rafael Nadal’s clay swing of 2022 has not yielded a title anywhere so there have been struggles.

He was eliminated early in the Madrid Masters by Carols Alcaraz before losing in the second round of the Rome Masters to Denis Shapovalov.

Since losing to Djokovic last year at Roland Garros, Nadal is W7 L2 on the clay.

His last three meetings with Djokovic have all been on the clay, Nadal winning two of those.

Nadal is 3-4 down in the last seven meetings against Djokovic on all surfaces.

Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal Betting Advice

Djokovic looks the better of the two players at the moment and showed in the last round he still has gears to get up through.

After missing the Australian Open this year, Djokovic looks pretty dialled in.

His form on the clay has peaked at the right time and the 3-0 Djokovic Set Betting option is the first tennis tip at 9/4* (odds recorded 019:06 GMT May 30th, 2022 at Betfair).

Key Facts – Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal Betting Tip

  • Novak Djokovic beat Nadal in last year’s French Open semi finals
  • Novak Djokovic has won one of his last six against Nadal on clay
  • Rafael Nadal has

Nadal’s record at the French Open is second to none and he still can perform at the very highest levels.

He showed that with his Indian Wells title this year.

But that match against Auger-Aliassime in the last round had to take something out of him.

Nadal’s form on this clay swing hasn’t been hot, so we’ll roll with a 1.5 handicap on Djokovic at 10/11* (odds recorded 019:06 GMT May 30th, 2022 at Betfair).

The Spaniard is without a clay title since Rome and may well be second best on Tuesday.
