Peterborough United Preview – Can Posh bounce back?

Peterborough United are back in the Championship after winning promotion from EFL League One last season. However, Posh started life in the second tier in poor fashion last weekend. Darren Ferguson’s side were beaten 3-0 by Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Peterborough were then embarrassed by Plymouth Argyle in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night. The League One side ran riot at Weston Homes Stadium, with Ryan Hardie (2), Luke Jephcott and Panutche Camara on target in a resounding 4-0 away win.

Our betting prediction:
Derby win & both teams to score
13/2

After losing their opening two league and cup matches, shipping seven and scoring none along the way, Peterborough will be desperate for a positive result from this one. United are priced at 11/10 to pick up all three points.

Derby County Preview – Rams to move on to four points?

Wayne Rooney’s Derby County have been tipped for a season of struggle. The Rams survived by the skin of their teeth last term, staying up on the final day. They kicked off this season with a 1-1 home draw with Huddersfield Town last week, with Curtis Davies scoring their goal.

Derby were involved in a six-goal thriller in the cup in midweek. EFL League Two Salford City raced into a 2-0 lead after just 14 minutes at Pride Park. However, County were level with 20 minutes to go. Salford took the lead again shortly after, but Ravel Morrison’s late goal took the tie to penalties. Derby went on to win 5-3 on spot kicks.

After a draw and a win from their opening two, Derby would love to keep their early form going with three points on the road at the weekend. The away win is priced at 13/5.

Peterborough United vs Derby County Betting Advice

These two sides have not met since the 2012-13 Championship season. Peterborough beat Derby 3-0 at home, while Derby returned the favour with a 3-1 victory at Pride Park several months later. Over the years, this fixture has been pretty even.

Key Facts – Peterborough United vs Derby County Betting Tip

  • Seven goals were scored in the two meetings in the 2012-13 season
  • Derby’s last win at Peterborough came in January 2010
  • Posh have lost both league and cup games so far, scoring none and conceding seven

Peterborough will be desperate to get their season up and running after two poor results so far. Derby have not been at their best, but a draw in the league and a penalty shootout victory in the cup signals a decent start for Rooney’s men.

Saturday’s clash at Weston Homes Stadium could go either way, but we fancy Derby to nick the points. The away win is nicely priced at 13/5. Also, there is good value in 13/2 for the Rams to win and both teams to score.
