Onto the Championship, and a bottom half clash between Preston North End taking on bottom club Reading as the betting tips continue on Saturday afternoon.
Preston have made a slow start to their new Championship campaign as Alex Neil’s side have picked up just one win from their first six matches of the season which was a 1-0 home win over QPR on the opening day.
However, since then Preston have gone five matches without success with defeats to Swansea City, Norwich City and Derby County, while picking up points against Stoke City and Bolton Wanderers, both in 2-2 draws. it should be noted that all three defeats were away from home.
But despite possessing a poor away record where they’ve lost all three of their matches on the trot, the hosts still remain unbeaten at Deepdale with a 1-2-0 5/4 record, and they’re unbeaten in their last six on home turf.
If Preston’s start has been slow, Reading’s has been disastrous as The Royals sit bottom of the Championship ahead of this weekend’s action in the second tier.
Despite parting ways with former manager, Jaap Stam, Reading’s fortunes haven’t improved much under his replacement, Paul Clement as the Berkshire outfit make their way up north for this clash on the back of no wins from their first six league matches of the new season.
Four defeats to Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday have far outweighed their points earned against Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa in 2-2 and 1-1 draws, and the visitors find themselves bottom of the table as a result.
The glimmer of hope for Reading is that they’ve drawn twice and lost just once away from home within an early record of 0-2-1 3/4 this term, but are without a win from their last 11 on their travels.
I can’t rule out the possibility of a draw here, so I’ll give the quarter-ball on the hosts who should edge the points here.
