Lancashire rivals Preston North End and Blackpool go head-to-head at Deepdale on Tuesday night in EFL Championship action. These two are hard to split, as only one point separates the pair in the current standings. North End have lost two on the spin, while the Tangerines were thumped at home by Nottingham Forest last time out. Who will get the win and take the West Lancashire bragging rights? Check out the latest odds and best predictions.

Preston North End Preview – Can the Lilywhites return to winning ways?

Ryan Lowe has certainly steadied the ship since arriving at Preston North End, and the Lilywhites have been tough to beat under their new boss. Since losing to Swansea City in January, Preston have been beaten just three times.

However, two of those three defeats have come in their last two games. After a 0-0 draw at Cardiff City, North End were thumped 4-0 by Luton Town. Then last weekend, Lowe’s boys lost 1-0 to Derby County at Pride Park.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score
5/6

Preston will be looking to bounce back with a win after taking just one point from their last three games. Since winning at Peterborough United over six weeks ago, Preston have picked up one win from their following seven. Can they put things right with a derby victory in midweek?

Blackpool Preview – Will the Tangerines strike back?

Having won promotion via the EFL League One play-offs last term, staying up was Blackpool’s ultimate goal this season. The Tangerines have passed that task with flying colours, as Pool are a whopping 23 points above 22nd.

Blackpool recently went on a four-game unbeaten run in the Championship, winning three and drawing one. However, that run was ended in abrupt style last weekend, as the Seasiders were hammered at home by in-form Nottingham Forest.

Blackpool have lost only one of their past five away games, though three of those have ended in draws. Worryingly for Neil Critchley’s boys, they have mustered up just one win in their past ten on the road. Pool head to Deepdale as the 11/4 underdogs.

Preston North End vs Blackpool Betting Advice

The meeting at Bloomfield Road back in October was the first league game between the rivals since February 2010. They did square off in the League Cup in 2013, with Preston running out 1-0 winners.

Blackpool were victorious in the reverse fixture several months back, claiming a routine 2-0 home win. Keshi Anderson and Gary Madine got the goals for the Seasiders, while Alan Browne was sent off for Preston late on.

Key Facts – Preston North End vs Blackpool Betting Tip

  • Preston have not beaten Blackpool in league action since November 2008
  • North End have lost two on the bounce
  • The Tangerines have picked up just one away win since October

Blackpool have had a fine first season back in the second tier, but Critchley’s troops have certainly struggled on their travels this season. They won 1-0 at Stoke City in their last away game, but Pool failed to win nine away matches prior to that (five losses, four draws).

We fancy Preston to strike back with three points after back-to-back defeats. Check out the tempting price of 15/4 for the home win and both teams to score. Also, back the Preston victory and over 2.5 goals at 13/5.
