Preston North End Preview – Can the Lilywhites finally pick up a point?

The pressure is already starting to mount on Preston North End boss Frankie McAvoy, who was only appointed permanent boss at Deepdale back in May. North End have made a miserable start, losing three out of three of far.

Preston’s season started with a shock 4-1 home loss to Hull City, who won EFL League One last term. They then lost 2-1 at Reading last Saturday. To compound their misery, Preston were beaten again in midweek, this time crashing to a 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium. Sepp van den Berg scored an own goal with 15 minutes to go to gift the Terriers the points.

Our betting prediction:
Draw & both teams to score
4/1

The Lilywhites did claim an EFL Cup win, but their form in the Championship has been lacklustre to say the least early doors. McAvoy and his team are in desperate need of three points here.

Peterborough United Preview – Will the Posh leave Lancashire with a positive result?

Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough United were seconds away from having the perfect week at home. They led Cardiff City 2-0 with seven minutes to go on Tuesday, but the Bluebirds bounced back with two late goals. Aden Flint’s second was pretty much the last kick of the game.

However, Peterborough picked up their first second-tier win since April 2013 last weekend, coming from behind to beat Derby County 2-1 – both goals came in injury time. Four points from three games is a decent return for last term’s League One runners-up.

Peterborough more than held their own against Derby and Cardiff in the last week, but can they get the better of sorry Preston on Saturday? The away win is priced at 13/5.

Preston North End vs Peterborough United Betting Advice

These two last met in an FA Cup tie back in January 2016. The Posh ran out 2-0 winners in that one thanks to goals from Martin Samuelsen and Conor Washington. The last league meeting ended in a 2-0 win for Preston. In fact, the Lilywhites have won the last three in the league.

Key Facts – Preston North End vs Peterborough United Betting Tip

  • Preston have taken zero points from three matches thus far
  • Peterborough have picked up four points from two home games in the past week
  • The Lilywhites have won the last three league meetings

Despite their poor start, Preston are the favourites in this one, with the bookies pricing the home win at evens. However, the Posh will be a tough nut to crack at Deepdale this Saturday.

Peterborough were disappointed with a point in the end on Tuesday, but they would take a draw in this one now if offered. The stalemate is available at 5/2. We also like the look of the draw and both teams to score, which is priced at 4/1.
