QPR – Entertainment assured with the R’s?

Starting slowly has been this season’s theme for QPR, who even managed to lose their opening game 1-0 to Blackburn. However, since going down at Ewood Park, Michael Beale’s men have responded by taking four of the next six points. They had to come from behind to pick up the latest, though, and what a way in which to do so: goalkeeper Seny Dieng’s late header salvaging a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland on Saturday.

The Black Cats could boast of a perfect record beforehand and so a point from the Stadium of Light can be viewed in a positive light. The contest itself was end to end with both teams accumulating plenty of efforts on goal. It was a similar story in their sole outing so far at Loftus Road, a game the R’s shaded, 3-2, but very nearly ended up surrendering two points after being 3-0 up inside 40 minutes against Middlesbrough.

Key Stat: QPR have conceded at least one first-half goal in all three of their Championship fixtures this term.

Blackpool – Early picture not so bright for Tangerines?

After a promising result on the opening weekend, when they rode their luck at times to a 1-0 home win against a Reading team who finished one place above the relegation zone last season, the Tangerines have since run out of juice. Saturday’s defeat to Swansea at Bloomfield Road marked a second in successive Championship outings for Michael Appleton’s side, to go with their 2-0 road defeat to Stoke City.

Having also suffered an upset in the EFL Cup last week, beaten on penalties by League Two’s Barrow after a goalless 90 minutes at Bloomfield Road, The Seasiders could clearly do with a positive outcome to enhance morale. However, neither their performances in the early stages of this season – scoring once from chances equating to 3.1 xGF – nor their record at QPR, with no win in their last four visits (D3 L1), augurs well.

Key Stat: Blackpool have suffered ‘to nil’ losses in four of their last five Championship fixtures going back to last season.

QPR Vs Blackpool Betting Advice

There has been a drawn meeting between the sides across each of the past four previous seasons in which both were at this level. Three of the four previous Championship clashes at Loftus Road, meanwhile, ended without a winner, while it took an 89-minute Luke Amos winner to settle last season’s encounter in West London in the home side’s favour. In summary, this could develop into another tightly fought contest.

QPR Vs Blackpool – Key Facts:

  • Both league meetings in 2021-22 very competitive affairs, with the sides sharing the points in a 1-1 draw in Blackpool before QPR won it late in the day at Loftus Road, 2-1.
  • Prior to QPR winning last season’s Loftus Road encounter though, all three previous Championship meetings in West London had produced a 1-1 scoreline.
  • So far it is QPR who have made the marginally superior start to the new season. The R’s occupy 10th on four points (W1 D1 L1), whereas Blackpool are down in 17 on three points (W1 L2).

Interestingly the last ten competitive meetings featured a minimum of two goals, although of these only four returned a winning selection on Over 2.5 Goals. Blackpool have only manage the one goal so far this season and have lost to nil in four of their past five Championship fixtures, so I wouldn’t necessarily be rushing to invest in another goal-laden renewal. However, the Draw & Over 1.5 Goals is a 3/1 shot (bet builder).
