Odds: 17/4 odds taken 2000 GMT, Tuesday 25 February
Recent results have put paid to any hopes that Sheffield Wednesday had of finishing in the top six but in no danger of being relegated either. Their opponents, Charlton, still require points to ensure they remain a Championship club next season.

Sheffield Wednesday Preview – Can Wednesday end a dire run of seven games without a win and rediscover some form?
Charlton Preview – Are Charlton set to build on weekend win over Luton to pull further clear of the bottom three?
I previewed Charlton’s match away game against Stoke earlier this month stating it could be a pivotal match in both club’s hopes of staying in the league. Defeat that day could easily have seen the heads go down amongst Lee Bowyer’s men. However, it’s to their immense credit to have come out and win two of their next three matches.
An excellent 1-0 victory away to playoff-chasing Nottingham Forest and a comprehensive win against fellow strugglers Luton at the weekend mean Charlton are now five points clear of the relegation zone. However, with Huddersfield and Luton winning big home games on Tuesday there is still a lot of pressure on them coming into this game.

The win over Forest was only Charlton’s third away victory of the season which is an indication of just how much of a struggle it’s been for them on their travels but also shows how significant the win was.
If they can muster a repeat of that performance then it would go a long way to their hopes of staying in the division. And it would be the perfect preparation going into Saturday’s huge match away to Huddersfield. A team who they are level on points with going into this match.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Charlton Betting Advice
Key Facts – Sheffield Wednesday vs Charlton Betting Tip
- One win in 11 league games have seen Wednesday fall out of playoff contention, now 11 points behind sixth
- Three wins in five have given Charlton real hope of survival, pushing them five clear
- Wednesday took the spoils when the team’s met at They Valley earlier in the season, winning 3-1
We all know the unpredictability of the Championship and how competitive it is. Wins for Huddersfield and Luton against top eight teams on Tuesday are the latest examples of that. Charlton are not great away from home but they are facing a team in terrible form. The battling qualities Bowyer’s men have shown throughout the season may just give them the edge here and I’m taking them to inflict more misery on their hosts.
