Stoke City Preview – Will the Potters crash to a third straight defeat?
Stoke City start the weekend in 12th spot in the Championship table. The Potters flirted with the play-offs once or twice in the first half of the season, but Michael O’Neill’s men have been far too inconsistent to sustain a serious promotion challenge this term.
Stoke have won 14, drawn 13 and lost 14 of their 41 Championship encounters, scoring 45 and conceding 46 so far. They are 16 points behind the top six with 15 points to play for. Nevertheless, after last season’s scare, many of the Potters supporters would have taken a mid-table finish before a ball was kicked this term.
Since winning two in a row and taking seven points from a possible nine, O’Neill’s boys have fallen to back-to-back losses to Millwall and Birmingham City. They will not want a third reverse on the spin this weekend.
Preston North End Preview – Lilywhites to bounce back from chastening defeat?
Interim Preston North End manager Frankie McAvoy suffered a humiliating loss last weekend. North End were thumped 5-0 by Brentford at Deepdale, with the Bees’ last three goals coming in the final 15 minutes. That result and performance was a real shock, especially as the Lilywhites had won at Swansea City in their previous game.
Preston have been in miserable form this year, picking up just four Championship wins in 2021. Since a 3-0 home triumph over Huddersfield Town in February, North End have gone on to lose five of the following eight.

Big changes are expected to happen at Deepdale over the summer, with a new manager being number one priority. Before then, though, Preston still have five tough games to play this season.
Stoke City vs Preston North End Betting Advice
Stoke edged the reverse fixture at Deepdale earlier in the campaign, leaving Lancashire with a 1-0 win. It was a tight affair, but Lee Gregory scored the only goal of the game shortly after Tom Barkhuizen was sent off for North End.
Last season, Preston did the league double over Stoke, winning 3-1 at home and securing an impressive 2-0 victory at the bet365 Stadium.
