Watford Preview – League’s best home team to win again?

After two losses in three in the Championship, Watford got back to winning ways with a comfortable home win over Huddersfield Town last Saturday. In what was Xisco Munoz’s second home league match, second-half goals from Tom Cleverley and Joao Pedro were enough to give the Hornets a 2-0 home victory.

As mentioned, Watford have the best home record in the Championship. The Hertfordshire club have racked up an impressive 29 points at Vicarage Road, winning nine, drawing two and losing only one. Since a 1-0 loss to Cardiff City in early December, Watford have taken ten points from the last 12 on offer on their own patch.

Munoz has had a mixed start to life at Vicarage Road. So far, the new boss has won two and lost two of four league and cup matches. After a home win last weekend, can Watford follow that up with another three points at Vicarage Road this Tuesday?

Barnsley Preview – Can the Tykes cause an upset in Hertfordshire?

Barnsley were languishing around the bottom three when Valerien Ismael arrived in October. However, after an incredible upswing in fortunes, the Tykes are now in the top half of the table, just six points adrift of the top six.

Ismael has guided Barnsley to ten wins from 17 Championship matches. The Tykes have yet to draw a game under the Frenchman, with the other seven ended in defeats. Barnsley will be hoping to hit back with a positive result at Vicarage Road after suffering back-to-back league losses to Norwich City and Swansea City.
