Valerien Ismael has made an excellent start to life at West Bromwich Albion, with the Baggies sitting joint top of the EFL Championship table after five games played. West Brom will be hoping to move on to 16 points when Gary Rowett’s Millwall visit The Hawthorns at the weekend. Albion are the strong favourites, but the Lions will be no pushovers in the West Midlands. Check out our West Brom vs Millwall betting preview.

West Bromwich Albion Preview – Fifth Championship win on the spin for the Baggies?

Valerien Ismael worked wonders at Barnsley last season, taking the Tykes to the play-offs against all odds. As a result of his excellent work at Oakwell, the West Bromwich Albion board wasted no time in bringing him to The Hawthorns after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Ismael has hit the ground running in the West Midlands, guiding West Brom to four wins and a draw from their opening five Championship matches. After coming from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Bournemouth, the Baggies have secured successive league wins over Luton Town, Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Peterborough United.

Our betting prediction:
West Brom to win to nil
6/4

West Brom will still be buzzing from their last-gasp win at the Weston Homes Stadium before the international break, and they will want to make it five Championship victories on the bounce this weekend. The Albion win is priced at 4/7.

Millwall Preview – Can the Lions build on their recent win?

Gary Rowett’s Millwall had a testing start to their Championship campaign, failing to win any of their opening four. The Lions drew with Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn and were beaten by Fulham and Cardiff City.

However, Millwall picked up a massive three points in front of their home supporters before the break, with Jake Cooper scoring an injury-time winner against ten-man Blackpool. The extra two points lifted them up to 17th.

An away fixture at The Hawthorns will be one of Millwall’s toughest challenges of their season. Everything is pointing towards a routine home win, but can the south Londoners cause an upset in the Midlands? They are the underdogs at 11/2.

West Bromwich Albion vs Millwall Betting Advice

On their way to promotion to the Premier League in the 2019-20 Championship season, West Brom picked up a precious 2-0 win at The Den in February 2020. Filip Krovinovic and Dara O’Shea got the goals in the capital.

The game at The Hawthorns in August 2019 ended in a 1-1 draw. Millwall surprised the Baggies at The Hawthorns in the cup earlier in the season, with Tom Bradshaw and Aiden O’Brien on target in a 2-1 Lions win.

Key Facts – West Bromwich Albion vs Millwall Betting Tip

  • West Brom have won four league games in a row
  • Millwall have picked up just one league thus far
  • The Baggies are joint top of the league with Fulham

Millwall were successful on their two visits to The Hawthorns in the 2019-20 season, winning in the cup and holding the Baggies to a 1-1 draw in the league. However, we fancy West Brom to get the points in this one.

When they last met, Albion won 2-0 – a repeat scoreline here is available at 6/1. We also like the look of 11/8 for the hosts to be winning at half time and full time.
