It’s Gold Cup day and there is so much to look forward to, starting with this Grade 1 hurdles action.

The Triumph Hurdle is limited to just juvenile hurdlers who are 4 years old. It’s the biggest race of its kind on the National Hunt calendar.

Former winners of this exciting contest include Tiger Roll and Persian War. There’s quite the line-up for this year’s renewal as well.

Our betting experts look through the latest odds, form and trends for this year’s JCB Triumph Hurdle Tips.

VAUBAN is the current 2/1 market leader in Triumph Hurdle betting for the 2022 Cheltenham Festival* (odds recorded at 16:12 GMT on March 17th, 2022 at Coral).

He got off the mark at the second time of asking over the hurdles. That was in the Grade 1 Spring Juvenile at Leopardstown 41 days ago.

Vauban was beaten by main Triumph Hurdle rival Pied Piper on his debut but clearly pushed his form forward after that.

That piece of form in the Spring Juvenile looks the best thing to roll with in this one. There is probably further improvement from Vauban to come.

DR PARNASSUS

PIED PIPER will probably give a good account of himself on Friday and is the 5/2 second-favourite* (odds recorded at 16:12 GMT on March 17th, 2022 at Coral).

He was useful on the flat and kicked off life over the hurdles with a victory over Vauban by half of a length at Punchestown.

There was a Grade 2 success to follow for Pied Piper at course and distance. He will likely keep on improving.

DOCTOR PARNASSUS shouldn’t be underestimated and ranks on the shortlist for the Triumph Hurdle tips 2022 at 16/1* (odds recorded at 16:12 GMT on March 17th, 2022 at Coral).

He has won both trips over the timbers so far in his career.

Those were both eye-catching successes, the latest of those at Taunton in February by 9 lengths.

FIL DOR rates as one of the other big contenders in the line-up for the Triumph Hurdle renewal at the Cheltenham Festival 2022.

He has a little more experience than most and won his first three trips over the hurdles.

The winning streak for Fil Dor was ended by Vauban in the Spring Juvenile at Leopardstown in February.

He had been the favourite for that run, and Fil D’or can get in the mix.

Others to note Triumph Hurdle Tips Cheltenham Festival 2022

PORTICELLO has upped his game over the hurdles recently, making it three wins in four for trainer Gary Moore.

The latest of those wins was at Haydock a month ago, and Porticello tore the field apart by 17 lengths.

KNIGHT SALUTE looks a positive one to follow having made it five from five last time out when scoring in the Grade 2 Adonis.

This is the biggest challenge yet for him, but he is no forlorn hope.

ICARE ALLEN is another to watch for the shortlist in this contest as he looks to still have plenty of potential to tap into.

He opened things over the hurdles with back to back wins before a 5th in the Spring Juvenile in which he shaped well but couldn’t get in the mix. He was back to winning ways easily next time out.

About the Triumph Hurdle

The Triumph Hurdle goes back a long way having had its first run in 1939 and that was not at Cheltenham. The race didn’t find its current home until 1965.

It’s common for the big players in the Triumph Hurdle to move up to compete in the Champion Hurdle.

The Triumph Hurdle is a Grade 1 race that is run at a distance of 2m 1f and mares claim a 7lb allowance for their entry.

JCB Triumph Hurdle Tips & Predictions Cheltenham Festival 2022

DOCTOR PARNASSUS piques plenty of interest from 16/1 in Triumph Hurdle betting odds* (odds recorded at 16:12 GMT on March 17th, 2022 at Coral).

This is going to be his biggest test yet, but after two eye-catching trips over the hurdles, he could have plenty more to bring to the table.

VAUBAN looks to be the one that sets the standard as he took that Grade 1 score in the Spring Juvenile. That was a big move forward from his debut defeat against Pied Piper.

VAUBAN is an obvious one on the shortlist at 2/1* (odds recorded at 16:12 GMT on March 17th, 2022 at Coral).

The final selection is PORTICELLO whose chances will come on further if there is some rain around.

The most recent of his scores was by 17 lengths. He’s not done improving yet and he features as well from 11/1* (odds recorded at 16:12 GMT on March 17th, 2022 at Coral).
