The Ryanair Chase is always one to look forward to and it has seen some famous winners land the odds down the years.

The list of who’s who in terms of previous winners include the likes of Vautour, Cue Card and Un De Sceaux.

Once again there will be a high-class line-up heading into action and we look through the latest form and odds to bring our Ryanair Chase tips to the table.

FAV in Ryanair Chase Racing Odds

ALLAHO is the current 4/6 Ryanair Chase betting favourite for the 2022 renewal* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Bet365).

The top-class chaser has won four of his last five runs and he sets the standard in this contest easily.

His winning form includes last year’s Ryanair Chase too.

That Cheltenham Festival victory was recorded by 12 lengths and Allaho is simply shaping up as one of the big bankers for Cheltenham Festival betting.

The second Grade 1 success for Allaho happened in December. Allaho’s latest run saw him score comfortably in a Grade 2 at Thurles.

He’s going to be very tough to beat.

Ryanair Chase Betting Contenders

CONFLATED is capable of putting in a big bold run, but he is not always the most reliable of runners. But there has been better consistency from him lately.

Conflated has won the last twice, the most recent of those coming in the Irish Gold Cup in February.

That was perhaps wasn’t the strongest of line-ups, however, and certainly not strong enough to suggest that Conflated will take down Allaho from 13/2* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Bet365).

SHAN BLUE is very interesting as he lines up in this one. He was last seen in October when he had the Charlie Hall in his pocket before falling three from home.

As a novice, there was a victory in the Grade 1 Kauto Star for Shan Blue and he is a likeable one.

If he can shake off a fair absence, then Shan Blue has claims for running his way into the picture at 9/1* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Bet365).

JANIDIL can’t totally be ruled out for place claims. Things may be a little beyond him for wins terms, but he is a smart hurdler nonetheless.

He scored a Grade 1 novice chase last spring. This season Janidil has shown credible form and for trainer Willie Mullins could battle his way into the frame.

Others to note Ryanair Chase Odds Cheltenham 2022

ELDORADO ALLEN has kicked his form forward this season. There may well be place claims there from 14/1 because of that* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Bet365).

Eldorado Allen won two of four runs, the pick of those happening on his latest effort in the Denman Chase at Newbury.

MELON is a high-class one but not always the easiest to catch these days.

He was eased in grade to score at Gowran on his latest and has a good record at the Cheltenham Festival. This year’s Ryanair is a lot tougher.

MISTER FISHER didn’t have a finish in him in the Ascot Chase last time out.

He did beat Eldorado Allen in January in a Grade 2 Kempton run, but a clean round and stamina to see this out may not be there.

SAINT CALVADOS was a runner up in the 2020 Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He has been very lightly raced since then.

There was a promising third in the King George in December before a health issue scuppered his Ascot Chase hopes a month ago.

FANION D’ESTRUVAL made no impact whatsoever in last year’s Ryanair and it’s hard to see him coming up with anything different.

There was a credible third in the Grade 1 Ascot Chase last time out. Much more will be needed here.

Ryanair Chase Trends

For the next part of this Ryanair Chase Preview 2022, we are going to dive into some of the trends surrounding the event. To do that, we cast an eye back over the last 17 editions of this Grade 1 fixture.

Ryanair Chase Trainer Statistics

The leading trainer in the history of the Ryanair Chase is Willie Mullins who has taken four wins in the fixture.

That’s 19 entries into the race. There have been back to back wins for Willie Mullins at the Ryanair, with Min and Allaho.

There have been four other trainers who have won the race on more than one occasion.

Paul Nicholls is the second-most successful with three wins, while Jonjo O’Neill and David Pipe have both won it twice.

Ryanair Chase Jockey Statistics

Turning attention to the Ryanair Chase, things are a little bit muddier. That is because no active jockey has won the race on more than one occasion.

Other Key Ryanair Chase Trends

Now it is time to look at some of the trends associated with the Ryanair Chase.

Each of the last eight winners have been French-bred horses. All but one of the last seven winners have come from Irish yards.

Each of the last 17 renewals have been won by a horse that was in the first eight of the market and had made 1-6 starts over the preceding year.

The last 17 Ryanair Chase renewals have also been won by a horse that had made either one or two starts in the preceding 90 days.

But also, they were each off a break of 26-82 days.

Cheltenham experience seems to have played a hand in producing a Ryanair Chase winner.

All but one of the previous winners had at least two previous runs at the venue.

Ryanair Chase Trends Cheltenham Festival

  • There has been five winning favourites in the last 10 renewals

Ryanair Chase Tips & Predictions Cheltenham Festival 2022

The 4/6 Ryanair Chase betting favourite ALLAHO has to be the way to go* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Bet365).

He is just the dominant performer at this distance over the hurdles and he probably won’t be stopped.

Allaho smashed the field in last year’s Ryanair and he is in even better form currently than he was ahead of last year’s Festival.

He should be the headline maker with another big performance.

SHAN BLUE gets on the shortlist from 9/1* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Bet365).

The former Grade 1 winner is very interesting in this field and he should have won the Charlie Hall impressively last time out, but fell.

A clear round at Cheltenham on Thursday should put Shan Blue in this.

JANIDIL is another who could feature strongly because of the drop in trip that he receives in the fixture.

He’s been nice and consistent this season and has place claims from 14/1* (odds recorded at 18:28 GMT on March 15th, 2022 at Bet365).
