Great Britain v Uruguay Olympic football betting sees both sides still in with a chance of making it through to the knock-out stage of the tournament. It is Great Britain who go into the final round of matches at the top of Group A, level on points with Senegal and Uruguay a point behind. So there is still everything to play for here. With Spain crashing out of the tournament after their first two matches, Great Britain have taken on the mantle of second favourites to win Olympic gold outright at a price of 9/1 with online bookmaker Bet365. Spain’s exit means that the draw will have opened up greatly for Stuart Pearce’s men, if they end up in second place. This is a strange situation because winning the group will now be the much harder route to go to the final through. A draw should be enough to secure a spot in the next round as well.

Against the United Arab Emirates in their second group match, an early goal from Team GB captain Ryan Giggs was cancelled out after 60 minutes with a brilliant move from the Asian nation. It was a deserved equaliser as the UAE again showed a lot of positivity. It was substitutes Scott Sinclair and Daniel Sturridge who made the break through though, netting twice in the space of three minutes to kill off the challenge of the United Arab Emirates. It wasn’t a particularly convincing or composed display again by Team GB, and there were even boos creeping into the crowd at Wembley, but at least they got the win that they needed after being held to a draw against Senegal in their opener. Now three points against Uruguay will book passage to the quarter finals as group leaders. While Uruguay have struggled to find any rhythm of their own, they will still be tough opponents for Team GB.

On a positive note, the back line at least looked a bit stronger that it has done and Manchester United star Ryan Giggs looks as if he is going to be the fulcrum of the team. Everything good is coming from him and he is carrying the midfield at the moment. So a single point would allow Great Britain to reach the last eight, but will they feel a sting in the tail from the wounded South Americans. Uruguay came into the tournament as one of the strong dark horses, and a wealth of strike power with Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. After fighting back from a goal down to beat the United Arab Emirates in a terribly disjointed performance in their opening match of London 2012, Uruguay were stunned by Senegal. A double strike from Senegal’s Konate gave the African nation, who played an hour of the game with ten men, a big win and as long as they avoid defeat against the United Arab Emirates in their final group match, they will be in the next round as well. If Uruguay win, then Great Britain will need the UAE to beat Senegal to maybe stay alive.
