Despite an unexpected 2-1 loss away at Eupen last time out in the First Division A, Anderlecht still remain in the Championship Round positions, sitting in fourth place ahead of this important clash with struggling Lokeren.
The hosts now return to home turf where they hold a record of 4-2-0 14/6 which includes wins against Oostende, Royal Excel Mouscron, Standard Liege and Cercle Brugge. They also pose a serious goalscoring threat in the shape of strike pair, Santini (9 goals) and Dimata (8 goals), and they look in good shape to bounce back with a win here.
Lokeren are at the other end of the First Division A as they sit level on six points with bottom club Zulte-Waregem ahead of their difficult looking trip to face high-flying Anderlecht on Thursday night, with only goal difference saving them from being bottom.
The visitors have gained just one win so far in this Belgian top flight season, which was recorded at their Daknamstadion against fellow strugglers, Waasland-Beveren. However, that’s been the only highlight in what has otherwise been a thoroughly disappointing campaign to date for Lokeren.
A poor away record of 0-1-5 7/12 includes losing their last four matches on the trot on their travels with losses at Gent, Club Brugge, Sporting Charleroi and Antwerp, with each result ending in a 2-1 defeat.
We could see another similar scoreline unfold at Anderlecht again this evening, and my betting tips advise backing the hosts to be up at half-time and to keep their lead.
