Despite a terrible end to last season which seen them lose four of their last six (winning just once), Augsburg survived and are able to enjoy another season in the Bundesliga. Markus Weinzierl was brought back to the club in April having enjoyed a successful four year spell between 2012 and 2016. He’ll be under no illusions of what the job entails with the main objective simply being keeping the club in the top-flight.

Englishman Reece Oxford has been at the club for four seasons but hadn’t scored a goal in the league until this campaign. He’s scored three in his last five games in all competitions.

There’s not much left to say about Bayern Munich. They’re a juggernaut which continue to steamroll everything before them. Julian Nagelsmann’s appointment appeared to be the perfect match and it’s certainly looking that way. The Bavarians are once again setting the pace at the top of the Bundesliga, holding a four point lead over rivals Borussia Dortmund.
They’ve lost only once in the league and are averaging just under four goals a game. It’s looking increasingly likely that they are going to record a 10th straight title.

Bayern are unbeaten on their travels in the league with four wins and a draw so far and that’s the difference between them and the chasing pack – their ability to win regularly on the road. They are looking to with a fifth consecutive away game for the first time since May 2020 which is further evidence that they could be improving under their new coach.
The man leading the charge is Robert Lewandowski. Not content with setting all-time records last season the Polish striker is on course to out do himself this time around. He’s score more than a goal a game is already at 23 with a month to go before the halfway point of the season.
