Barcelona Preview – Can Barca bounce back?

Two defeats out of their last three league matches in La Liga have resulted in Barcelona dropping down to 3rd spot in the Spanish top flight standings but the hosts should still comfortably qualify for next season’s Champions League as they possess a six-point lead over 5th placed Real Betis.

These recent defeats have been Barcelona’s only two slip-ups since losing to Real Betis back in early December as the hosts have otherwise been unbeaten in their other 16 matches in this period; however, back-to-back home losses to Cadiz and Rayo Vallecano do give visitors, Mallorca, reason to be confident about this trip.

Unlike Barcelona, Mallorca have won two of their last three games in La Liga having secured wins against Atletico Madrid and Alaves in 1-0 and 2-1 victories, both of which were on home soil at their Visit Mallorca Estadi.

However, eight defeats within their last 10 matches overall suggests this could be a tough assignment for Mallorca who sit fifth from bottom in the La Liga table but the visitors arguably have the greater incentive for the three points here as they’re only two points above the relegation zone.
