Borussia Monchengladbach Preview – Can Gladbach bounce back to winning ways after tough spell?

It has been a baptism of fire for Adi Hutter since making the move from Frankfurt to Monchengladbach in the summer. Having spent three years with his former club, the Austrian would have been hoping to hit the ground running taking over from Marco Rose. As it is, Gladbach find themselves in 13th place in the Bundesliga and coming into this game on the back of three straight defeats.

In that spell they have conceded 14 goals including six in their last home game against Freiburg, all of the goals coming in the first half of that match. Hutter knows he has to find a way of turning things around having also shipped four against FC Koln and RB Leipzig.

There’s no doubt it is a a group of players who are capable of turning it on – that was proven with their emphatic 5-0 win at home to Bayern Munich in the German Cup. Their home record in general is actually very strong with the defeat to Freiburg their only loss at BORUSSIA-PARK this season. They’ve won five of their eight matches here.

It will be interesting to see if Hutter makes any changes either in personnel or system. Jonas Hoffman has been the pick of their attackers with the German international on seven for the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt Preview – Are Frankfurt set to heap more misery on their former coach?

It is always an uncertain time when a new coach comes in and whilst there has been a few hiccups along the way, the signs are more encouraging of late that Oliver Glasner is taking Frankfurt in the right direction. Eintracht come into this game having won four of their last five in the Bundesliga and that has taken them into ninth place – five points outside the top four and potential qualification for the Champions League.

The most recent of those victories is arguably their best performance of the season having defeated high-flying Bayer Leverkusen 5-2 at home. Made all the more impressive by the fact they were two goals down.

Frankfurt have also beaten Bayern Munich, getting the better of them away from home back in October. That’s one of three away wins for Glasner’s men in the league, losing three and drawing twice. They have only kept one clean sheet in those eight matches but the 12 goals they have managed is the best of any team outside the top five.

Andre Silva hit 28 goals for them last season but with his departure the goals have been spread round the squad much more evenly this time around. No player has more than three at this stage which is an obvious sign of the change in style.

Borussia Monchengbladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Advice

The motivation and need for points for Gladbach is obvious but Hutter has his own personal objective in that a win for his team here would not only stem the run of losses, but it would take them level on points with his former club. That looks like being the nature of this year’s Bundesliga with only five points between seventh and 16th.

It’s clear that the visitors are a dangerous team and are also improving, but their record in this particular fixture is not great. The last win for them was back in 2017 and they have lost four of the last six against Gladbach.

Key Facts – Borussia Monchengladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Tip

  • Despite their lowly league position Gladbach have lost just once at home this season
  • Frankfurt come into this looking for a fifth win in their last six league games
  • The hosts are unbeaten in their last six against this rival, winning four of them

Recent form would suggest this is a game where there will be goals. Six of Gladbach’s last seven matches have went over 2.5 goals whilst six of Frankfurt’s last eight have went the same way. It looks a sound selection tomorrow.
