Bournemouth Prediction – Can Bournemouth continue to defy odds?

The south coast outfit managed a 14th place finish in last season’s Premier League campaign under manager, Eddie Howe, as they continue to punch above their weight.

Although it was another successful campaign for Bournemouth, I can’t help feeling that Howe would have been slightly disappointed in their final league position.

Such is the ambition of the club though that this may possibly be the case, and the high standards that they’ve set for themselves.

For a club whose stadium capacity is a mere 12,000, it’s a remarkable feat that Howe has achieved to keep The Cherries in the top flight.

It’s amazing to think that this will be Bournemouth’s fifth season on the trot in the Premier League, and also with the majority of last season’s squad still intact.

The likes of forwards, King and Wilson along with Solanke up front have been boosted by the creativity and goals from midfielders, Fraser and Brooks.

Another crucial addition to Eddie Howe’s squad is the Liverpool loanee, Harry Wilson, who enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Championship with Derby County last season.

Wilson will add further goals from midfield as well as an additional creative spark while Brooks is in line to face his former club.

Sheffield United Prediction – Can Sheffield United make a successful return?

It’s been 12 long seasons since Sheffield United were last in the Premier League, but they did actually score the first ever goal in the Premier League era.

Striker, Brian Deane headed home to mark a page in footballing history, and Chris Wilder’s side will be looking to mark their return with all three points here.

The Blades joined Norwich City in achieving automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season, and will have noted Norwich’s heavy defeat last night with interest.

Norwich were lauded for their goalscoring exploits in the second tier last term, but Wilder will be wary that his side don’t suffer a hiding in this opening match of the season.

Wilder was proactive in the summer months to bolster his defence with the addition of former Blades defender, Phil Jagielka (from Everton) as he returns to the club where he began his career.

Midfield additions include Osborn from Nottingham Forest, Besic from Middlesbrough and the wayward Morrison from Ostersunds.

Up front, along with the incumbents, Sharp and McGoldrick, in come the likes of McBurnie and Robinson who have joined from Swansea City and Preston NE respectively.

The visitors therefore have numerous attacking outlets at Wilder’s disposal, but question marks may hover over their defensive capabilities at this level.
