Brighton Preview – Can Seagulls continue to soar?
Brighton have made a fantastic start to this new Premier League season as Graham Potter’s side sit in 4th place in the early top flight standings, having lost just once so far in this campaign whilst also picking up three wins in the process.
The Seagulls came out of the blocks in impressive fashion by putting together a four-match unbeaten run which included wins against Manchester United (2-1 away from home), West Ham (2-0 away) and a 1-0 home win against Leeds United, along with picking up a point in a 0-0 draw at home with Newcastle United.
Last weekend though, Brighton’s unbeaten run was brought to a sudden halt by Fulham as The Seagulls were beaten 2-1 away at Craven Cottage, so they’ll no doubt be eager to return to the more familiar surroundings of their AMEX Stadium for this upcoming visit from Leicester City.
Brighton are unbeaten in their last six home games, but they’ve only beaten Leicester City in one of their previous 12 meetings overall.
Jakub Moder and Adam Lallana are definitely out for the Seagulls, but 20-year-old Jeremy Sarmiento could make the matchday squad after recovering from knee surgery, while in their first starts since coming off the bench against Fulham, Danny Welbeck and Tariq Lamptey both want to give the club a boost by returning to the starting lineup here this Sunday.
Leicester City Preview – Can Foxes halt losing streak?
A midweek 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester United at their King Power Stadium consigned Leicester City to a fourth league defeat on the trot in this season’s new Premier League campaign and as a result, The Foxes still remain bottom of the table with just a single point to their name.
Leicester began their season in reasonable shape as they grabbed a point on the opening day of the season with a 2-2 draw at home with Brentford but they had relinquished a 2-0 lead to be pegged back by The Bees to be held to a draw.
Four straight defeats have followed since, as Leicester City have been dealt defeats by Arsenal 4-2, Southampton 2-1, Chelsea 2-1 and the aforementioned 1-0 defeat to Manchester United; the bigger picture shows Leicester have managed to capture just three league wins from their previous 14 games overall in the Premier League.
The Foxes have also won just one of their last nine outings on the road, although they’ve been beaten by 2 goals or more in just one of these nine games, so the visitors could at least keep things close here this Sunday.
If Daniel Amartey’s muscular injury persists, Leicester may field deadline day signing Faes alongside Jonny Evans this weekend, while Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand remain out for The Foxes.
