After wins for both of these last weekend, convincing ones as well, this should make for a great contest. The Bulldogs got themselves off the mark for the first time this season with their win over the Dragons.

But they are going to face a tough challenge against the Roosters who have won their last two now in the Premiership.

BUlldogs up and running with a win

The Canterbury Bulldogs finally put a bit of cheer on the board last weekend as they met the struggling St George Illawarra Dragons. The Bulldogs posted a 22-2 win to score their first success of the campaign.

Their losses came against the Eels, Cowboys and Sea Eagles and the Bulldogs struggled to put points on the board in those. The Bulldogs are in fact, the second-lowest scoring side in the ladder this season with only 46 points.

But the positive out of that is that they have not been bad in defence at all. The Bulldogs have conceded an average of 16 points per game this season, the best record of all teams in the bottom half of the Premiership ladder.

A big boost for them last weekend was five-eighth Kieran Foran coming back into the frame, which gave them an extra spark in attack. The only change happening for them in the starting line up is whoever replaces the suspended centre Reimis Smith.

The Bulldogs have won three of their four previous games played at the Bankwest Stadium, so even though they are not at home (because of the Coronavirus) they will be happy enough with the venue.

The head to head is narrow between the two teams, with the Roosters narrowly ahead 22-21. The Bulldogs lost both meetings with the Sydney club last season, by margins of 8 and 24.

Will the Roosters be even better

Last weekend the Roosters had one of their key players missing. That was fullback James Tedesco, arguably the best player in the NRL (maybe the world) in that position.

Did the Roosters bat an eye? No, they produced a stunning show of power to crush the Brisbane Broncos 59-0. That was a record-breaking loss inflicted on the Broncos.

That win moved the Roosters on to a W2 L2 record this season and certainly bumped up their attacking stats. It gave them back to back wins after beating the Rabbitohs in round 3.

Sydney are one of five teams currently to have surpassed the 100 point mark, three of the other having already played five games. This will be the fifth for the Roosters.

The aforementioned Tedesco comes back into the lineup this weekend in the only change from the 17 last week. One to watch out for in the try scorer market is Daniel Tupou, who has scored nine tries in his previous 10 games against Canterbury.

The Roosters have won the last six meetings between the two and are W10 L2 in their last dozen against the Dogs. So it’s massive head to head favouritism for the visitors in this one.

The Roosters Kyle Flanagan is the second-highest points scorer in this season’s Premiership, behind only Parramatta Eels star Mitchell Moses.

Canterbury Bulldogs vs Sydney Roosters Betting Advice

Sydney have posted at least 20 points in all but one of their last dozen games against Canterbury. Three of their last four wins over the Dogs have been by a margin of at least eight points.

Because the Bulldogs haven’t been terrible in defence this season, and the scoring of the Roosters having been nothing special this season before meeting the Broncos, we are keeping the handicap line focused on the Bulldogs.

Key Facts – Canterbury Bulldogs vs Sydney Roosters Betting Tip

  • Canterbury Bulldogs are on a six match losing streak against the Roosters
  • The Roosters thrashed the Broncos 59-0 last weekend
  • Sydney Roosters have won their last two matches

A Canterbury Bulldogs +18 handicap can be taken for 20/21 and we would be all over that* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 02:17 GMT, Saturday 13th June. Their losses this season have been by an average of 13.3 games which more than falls under that range.

It is going to be a tough ask of Canterbury here and we can’t see them taking the win, not giving a quick glance at the head to head. But they may well be gritty enough to avoid a Broncos-sized hammering
