Saturday’s late game in the Premier League comes from Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look to return to winning ways when they host Nigel Pearson’s Watford. There’s a lot to play for in this one, as the Blues want to cement their place in a UEFA Champions League position, while the Hornets need the points to boost their survival bid. We have the latest odds and tips.

Chelsea Preview – Will the Blues return to winning ways?

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back from the midweek disappointment at the London Stadium. The Blues were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline against rivals West Ham United, who are struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

Prior to Wednesday’s shock defeat, Chelsea had won five league and cup games on the spin. In fact, since being walloped by Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League back in February, the Londoners had gone six matches across all competitions without defeat.

Chelsea missed the chance to move above Leicester City into third in midweek. Nevertheless, Lampard’s men are still in a good position to take one of the Champions League spots. Ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, Chelsea are two points above Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea have had one or two problems at home this season, but they are unbeaten at Stamford Bridge in league action since Manchester United left with a 2-0 win back in mid-February.

Watford Preview – Another damaging defeat for the Hornets?

Nigel Pearson made a huge impact at Vicarage Road when he first took over, guiding Watford to wins over Man Utd, Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth. However, the Hertfordshire club have picked up just one win from their last 11 league and cup matches.

That sole victory was a memorable one, though, as Pearson’s side became the first team to beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the Premier League this season. It was an unforgettable day for the Watford faithful, with Ismaila Sarr scoring twice and captain Troy Deeney netting in the 3-0 romp. However, Watford have failed to kick on from that.

The Hornets are down in 17th place at the moment, only ahead of Aston Villa and Bournemouth by a point. Since returning to action last month, Watford have taken just one point from a possible nine. After losing 1-0 at Burnley, they were beaten 3-1 at home by Southampton last time out.

Watford have one of the poorest away records in the Premier League, taking just ten points from 16 away games. Saturday’s clash at Stamford Bridge will be another tough away assignment for Pearson and his troops.

Chelsea vs Watford Betting Advice

Back in November, Chelsea left Vicarage Road with all three points thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic. The Blues have won six of the last seven meetings.

Key Facts – Chelsea vs Watford Betting Tip

  • Chelsea have won five of their last six league and cup matches
  • The Blues have lost just once at Stamford Bridge in Premier League action since Boxing Day
  • Watford have lost each of their last three away league games, failing to score in all three

Last season, Chelsea romped to an easy 3-0 home win over Watford, and I fancy a similar outcome in this one. Put some money on the hosts to win both halves at 12/5.

Pulisic, who netted in the reverse game, has been in red-hot form since returning from the break. Back the American to score anytime on Saturday at 2/1.
