Corinthians head into Sunday afternoon’s encounter with Sao Paulo looking to extend their winning streak to five matches when the two teams meet at the Arena Corinthians with a valuable three points up for grabs for both sides.
Corinthians have strung together an impressive four-match winning run with wins over Santa Cruz, America Mineiro, Flamengo and Chapecoense and this has helped push them up into second place in the Brazilian Serie A and just one point adrift of league leaders Palmeiras.
Corinthians’ home record has been strong this season to date as they hold a record of 6-1-0 15/3 as they are still yet to be beaten, and have registered six home wins on the trot following their opening home draw with third placed Gremio.
Sao Paulo may still have nightmares about their last visit to Corinthians which ended up with the visitors being on the receiving end of a 6-1 thrashing, and although they’ve recently picked up a couple of wins over Fluminense and America Mineiro, their away form has been the main problem this season.
With just one win from their last six away from home and an overall record of 2-2-3 5/8, Sao Paulo will have their work cut out for them this afternoon if they’re to get anything out of the hosts Corinthians who are on a winning roll on home turf.
